While I love Triple B and think this collaboration is fantastic, I am sitting this one out. The only reason is because I fully recognize that my sharpening skills are not up to the task of maintaining 15V. I am happy with my 52100 Manix and SPY27 Manix LW, and those steels are much more manageable for a sharpening ignoramus like myself.

That said, I have glimpsed the original Triple B design that's still in the works, and I MUST have that one when it comes out regardless of the steel! (Perhaps in the interim I can "hone" my sharpening skills.)

Same sentiments here. I guess I'm sitting this one out too. I'll just wait for the 3B folder instead.

Thanks. I plan on using it along with the maxamet seconds manix I got BF. I have some different things I’m going to cut up to see how they compare.

That’s the direction I’m leaning as well. I’m not going to stress out over this one. (I’m more stressed about getting a KnifeJoker Lil Native in a few days! lol) If I have an easy opportunity to buy one of these, I will but I also have no problem waiting for the BBB collab to try out 15V. Which I’m in no rush to try given my sharpening skills.

these should be possible to maintain with just the sharpmaker and cbn / diamond rods. it'll take some extra strokes but that's about it. K390 isn't super far behind in wear resistance and I've had no problem touching it up on the sharpmaker ceramics after setting the bevel on diamonds.

Same! I hope it doesn't sell out quickly. It's gonna drop in the wee hours of the morning where I'm currently at and my worry is that I'll oversleep and miss out on the drop. Lol.

I ordered one from mrknifeguy.com yesterday and didn't get a confirmation email. I checked my gmail spam folder today and it was there. Just wanted to let people know that it may be in spam. Also got the email (in spam folder) saying that they were out of stock so the order was cancelled. I kinda expected that.

Ugh, just missed one at BHQ. I was entering my CC# since they had my old number on file and it sold out in the meantime lol. Must've only gotten the prestige shipment or whatever.

i got the email and it was gone too. did anyone here get one, or was it a mistake by bhq?

eta: if this wasn't a mistake and is a sign of what to expect even from the larger dealers, this drop is going to be sad for a lot of people.

I was told by a reliable source that the initial shipments to dealers only has a maximum of 5 knives. I would imagine that some are sold in the physical store a a few are sold online. Gentleman I talked to said that dealers have no idea when the larger shipments would make it out to dealers. Slim pickings right now. Just enough leaking out right now to keep things exciting and this a hot item.

I was lucky enough to call a dealer and he had one available in store but not listed online for sale. Another option for the Spydie Army to consider.

Has there been any indication of the number of knives that will be produced in this sprint run? Standard 1200?

CS might have dropped already, it was listed as a new product yesterday, just thought I missed the drop. Maybe not.

Just putting this here because, after all, the Alert thread is the Alert thread.

Following up on certain dealers jacking prices, I’ve noticed some dealers doing this on in demand knives, but it is not SOP by any means.

There are a number of dealers that I will no longer do business with because of this practice.
If I'm assuming that this is a response to my post in the alert thread, I will preface my comments with clarity in that I was not implying that this is how I view the standard for all yet-to-be released product. I was specifically speaking in regards to this 15V Manix (of which the thread is solely highlighting) and price hiking by retailers from the original $150/160 (I cannot recall exactly at the moment) to what I'm seeing is now just over $200.

This is a considerable hike, however due to the incredible hype train (33 pages in just over 2 months..), I see this trend following suit amongst the retailers who have seemingly yet to receive their stock for sale. December is always the cut-off before the inflation tide swallows the shores once more and all this being said I'm sure retailers will look at this model with the mindset of it will be most beneficial (financially and ethically) to increase their pricing now on this model. The market will bear this bear at the inflated price, anyhow.

Perhaps in revealing all of these upcoming models, pricing should remain discreet until a few weeks out from a tangible, physical release that will be readily available to the consumer.

I'm out of this foot-race myself, but it will be interesting to see how the further releasing of this sprint run plays out and how the market will receive that. If I were in for it, having to pay ~$50(+) more than what was dangled in front of me for a couple months would rub me the wrong way. A similar scenario has played out with the (equally hyped) Magnacut Native 5 (increased once already whilst being on pre-order for lesser and I'm sure will increase once more before release). Cash is king; so it goes.

I was just commenting specifically on the practice of raising prices on knives of interest to a small segment of the community. It wasn’t specifically in response to your post.

I personally have not seen this happening at very many dealers, but when it does; it always happens on knives with some afi interest, whether or not there is any crushing demand from the market; it’s at a very few dealers that are plugged into the knife guy threads; and generally involves a low volume product.

Now, I recognize that it is entirely within a dealers purview to set prices where they see fit and to let market forces take their course, but; it’s exceptionally annoying, to me, when they do this with something like the Ayoob, or the 15v Manix 2, especially after Spyderco has taken some pains to set the MAP prices somewhere reasonably attainable by their core customers who are interested in something other than just adding another knife to the pile or picking up a generic knife for their everyday use.

I happen to think it puts short term profit over customer relations with the very people who are serial consumers of knives like this.

Dealers who do this lose my business.

It’s very early in the drop for this Sprint. Remember, the Ayoob Sprint dropped in early August 2022 and there were still some available during the MAP Holiday (Black Friday through Cyber Monday in late November 2022). Of course, we don’t know how many of these Sprints were produced and the price on the Manix is a lot more appealing.
