I really want it, but the timing is bad with the discontinued list and the upcoming 15v BBB Manix 2.
If this stays in stock for a good while, I might get one for Christmas or something, but I think that's unlikely.
It is too pricey for me right now, unfortunately.

Some natural light photos over on r/Spyderco: https://www.reddit.com/r/spyderco/comme ... lum_tanto/

(Linking rather than direct embedding since they aren't mine)

Pretty light looking there, almost like a linen or canvas micarta rather than g10

This is still in-stock and I can’t help but think it’s purely because of the price. This feels like a $200 knife to me. I am prepared to be hated on, but that’s just my honest opinion.
Yeah you’re not alone. I don’t see basically $300 here… but it’s also hard to believe your basic vg10 FFG endura is $95+ now.

Granted, I’d rather pay for an endura than this…

Even if the price weren’t so high, I’d be skeptical based on the fact that I bought two of the last ones that BHQ rolled out and both were pretty undeserving of the Spyderco or Lum brands. Rough locks, sharp unchamfered liners, and warped blades. This is too much money for an experiment or a second shot.

Nobody else complaining about lack of appleseed grind? I see and know (hap40 and original "lum era") that the thinner tip is more practical, but I'm not buying a tanto to efficiently cut up my lunch (which is mostly what I do with the knives...)
Totally not in the know here but... what gives?
Still like it btw and will likely buy. Best tanto ever .

Looks a lot closer to sage green than olive drab to me.

The comparison of this BladeHQ Lum Tanto M390 TiCN + G-10 (Japan) at $289.95 to the St. Nick’s Manix2 XL 4V DLC + G-10 (USA) at $185.00 is to the point.

What the U.S. consumer was paying for Spyderco knives was very reasonable up to January 2016. You could get them for 45%-50% off MSRP with free shipping and no sales tax. In January 2016 Spyderco instituted MAP pricing where the advertised discounted price could not be less than 40% off MSRP. This was to help dealers not consumers. 40% shrunk to 35% in January 2018 and to 30% in January 2020 (effectively increasing the price for the consumer). In the meantime, MSRP kept going up with huge increases in January 2022. A few years ago more and more dealers started charging sales tax which again increased the price to the consumer. Fairly soon, a ParaMilitary2 will be $200+! Unsustainable!
I mean, same with Benchmade, a griptilian used to be $50. Now with the new price increase, it's $160. A 940 is now over $200.

I want a Lum Tanto, and love all the early Spyderco knives, but $289 is a bit out of my price range right now

This was the unfortunate experience for many with the last sprint run of the Lum Tanto in Jade G10. I was really hoping this run would address that feedback.

The misaligned scales with the liners is unbelievable! I don't usually complain much about a knife that's got a few little things wrong. That knife is a mess though and would be shipped right back.

In looking at the pictures by user blueboost on BladeForums, your first thought is that it can't be true because there are so many shortfalls. However, the pictures don't lie! How many more are like that and how did it get past QC at Golden?

Is the grind on the m390 similar to the original or the hap40 (which has a different grind than the original, if I'm correct)?

These quality issues will damage Spyderco beyond repair if they don’t get a handle on them. Clearly the Japanese makers that Spyderco uses no longer have the skills to compete in the market. Best keep them making FRN models only, I guess? You can only trade on your goodwill for so long.
