JD Smith in Cruwear? I'd buy a few. No hesitation. It would probably be my first choice in the older models. I always did like the JD Smith . There are several old models I'd go along with though.

Make is grey G10, and bring back all the golden oldies that way!

I handled a Forrester at a show recently and have friend who has the smallest model . Both feel great in hand , it was a lot of knife for the money when produced . Hope you find them I bet your pictures would show the quality of the knife . Re: Next Project To Revive Another GOLDEN ERA Model
So funny the models I couldn’t wait to name got named already. Lava, small Persian, Salsa in that order.
Lava sold poorly in the Smurf blue, but it was Smurf blue. I also think a slight revamp of the blade would be advantageous, less toenail and more wharncliffe-ish

Bruh, I thought I was alone…OG Yo is best Yo. Everyone loves the Yo2 but I just liked the original better. Happy the Microjimbo is more like the OG and would buy an OG Yo in flat dark earth all day long and twice on Sundayvivi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 10:20 amOne reason I like the Native Chief so much is that it shares a lot of similarities with the full sized Calypso.
Here is another one that comes to mind. The original yojimbo:
No disrespect intended towards the second gen (I'm especially fond of the yojumbo!), but this one fit my hand better. It had a pretty long handle for the blade length.
and just for fun why not a magnacut forester in green linen micarta?
Re: Next Project To Revive Another GOLDEN ERA Model
I always thought the Goddard looked good. But I'd be totally good with the Caly or Jess Horn.
Re: Next Project To Revive Another GOLDEN ERA Model
I’d like an Ocelot. If I remember correctly, the prototype had a comp lock. That’s how I’d like it.

FYI, The Deacon, a Stretch fan like no other, has noted on this forum that the rubber-inserts marketed as Kraton can disintegrate after a few years. And others have complained that Kraton’s grippiness make unpocketing and repocketing troublesome.Wartstein wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 1:43 amWell, for me it would have to be the C90 stainless steel craton Stretch (the first "real" Stretch that was actually called so??)
Just a bit smaller than the Stretch 1, is from the time you call the "Golden era" and one of the coolest looking Spydies ever imo.

When was Kraton last offered, I wonder.

Re: Next Project To Revive Another GOLDEN ERA Model
I’d kill for a Wayne Goddard. I’d absolutely love some green canvas micarta and cruwear blade. I’d also be down for a lightweight.
Any of the Hossom knives would be pretty sweet as well.

I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

That would be cool. Would buy. Cruwear goes with gray G10.RadioactiveSpyder wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 12:17 pmI’ve asked several times for a full size Jess Horn sprint. I’d be happy to see it made in the same configuration as the recent Baby Horn sprint (in dark gray G10).
I could maybe go for a Rookie.
To your second point...
When (if) Moki is fully up for it, the correct answer is the Kris. Optimistically we're due for a new Ed Schempp model in the next few years.
The Kris is unique in my accumulation as a bolstered, pinned, hafted modern... with a spydiehole. (It was also made ~ 17 years ago). I could go for more like that-- though i don't think we're headed that way-- nor do i know of anyone going that direction these days. Anyone know any custom makers doing work like that now?
The persians are cool too, but i don't love trailing points aesthetically nor functionally, otherwise i'd have a couple of those too.
What would really be incredible-- if Moki could-- is a reissue of the C27 Horn.

I am all for a Rookie or Kris! Make it happen!

Thanks, I did not know that!
Though I figure knowing about these disintegration issues and perhaps having advanced technology and materials available today Spyderco would make sure that this time no such problems would occur...
It would not have to be Kraton either for me - just stainless steel with some inlay.
I think though for most this would not be a real revival of a Golden era model, since it basically is "just" a pimped up (not meant negatively of course!) version of the Stretch 1, which was disco´ed not too long ago (though one thing I always wonder: According to Spydercos specs the FRN Stretch 1 and the SS/Kraton Stretch have the exact same blade length (3.5") - but the latter is shorter in closed length (4.25 vs 4.44), despite the blade fills the handle perfectly right to the end on the FRN, so there´s really not much room for farther shortening the handle).
Perhaps I am actually just looking for a way to bring the Stretch 1 back, and since the FRN molds don´t exist anymore (according to Sal) SS and Inlay is one of the still possible ways of doing so...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Dyad or Dyad Jr. although Sal did mention considering an updated model with compression locks.

Full size Calypso for me. Hopefully with Micarta scales.

I'd love to see a new version of the Lum Chinese Folder or the C105 Schempp Persian 75mm in maybe K390 or Cruwear.
