I love the Manix, and I have a lot of them, but I don't think this combination will add anything to what I already have, and it's not really my style. Good luck to everyone who wants one. :)

Not sure if I'll try for one of these or not. I certainly won't jump through a bunch of hoops to get one

I wonder what happened to the other run of REC PM2's that was supposed to happen at some point. I remember I decided against the first run of the REC PM2. Then they did another run and ordered one only to find out they didn't have enough knives for people they sold them too. I was supposed to be on a list to be one of the first in line for the next run but it never happened. Anyone else remember that? Think I'll ask them about it.

EDIT: I just went back and found mine order confirmation (08/18/20) and then a couple days later they send a confirmation of refund. I'm not finding the email where they said I'll be able to purchase one of the next runs. I do remember that they offered to allow me to buy a different OD green/FDE model that came out if I want to forego my place in line for the PM2. I think it was the Lil Native(?) and I decided to wait. Now it's two years later lol

I have some more info on these. Apparently a bunch of the knives didn’t pass qa/qc. Of the typical batch ordered and made, only about 600 or so made it to REC.

I'm still saving up for a regular Manix in CTS-BD1N with those nice translucent blue scales, so this is an easy pass for me. I feel like I have a better chance of winning the lottery than scoring on a REC drop :)

You would hope that means REC will get a second batch at a later date.

Did somebody from REC actually say they had QC issues or are you extrapolating based on the available quantity? 600 pieces by itself is not an indicator of QC issues. The REC Para 3 was also a 600 piece run.

Not an extrapolation but from an employee at the event.

Am I correct in inferring that the 600 units you mean are for the REC Manix 2?

If so, I'm willing to bet it's going to be another bloodbath during the drop, with most if not all of those units going to a certain group of FB collectors who have key access to the REC team.

How do you think they'd work that out?

He's always the most pessimistic when it comes to exclusive/sprint drops. Pretty wild idea, I'm sure it COULD happen but I doubt they'd go through the work and effort to do something like that, knowing this will likely sell out in under 5 minutes to the general public. But again, who knows these days as multiple exclusives are still available.

i'm going to get in trouble with this one because i just got the ayoob and i'm traveling to sfo with full expectation to pick something up during my visit as a souvenir. i also want to grab a subway bowie. it's really getting out of hand. this is why i didn't grab a pits, even though i came close to just pulling the trigger a couple of times.

Those scales are screaming for a DLC blade! I've had this version of the PM2 for a few weeks a couple years back, I just couldn't warm up to that blade finish. Too weird looking for me, even had a tint of a pinkish hue to it in certain lighting, at least to my eyes. Feels like one step away from some of those crazy Boker blades.

I might pick one up and throw copper scales on it or something.... We'll see. I'm not a fan on that blade color.
