I dislike the wire clips flexing and rubbing my titanium finishes, so I put stiffer clips on my P.I.T.S.s. The RGT clip has been hanging out on the old version, but matches the stonewash handle, so I fit it to the sprint. I’ll probably get another grossly expensive RGT for the blue P.I.T.S. later this year since the Lynch is also a bit bendy.

The only slight bummer about the sprint is that the edge grind ran slightly into the ricasso.
Have: old S30V Native, HAP40 Endura, ZDP DF2, S110V Manix LW, Cru-wear Para 3, SE H1 DF2, S90V Native 5, K390 Urban, SE Pac Salt, P.I.T.S., XHP Manix LW, SB Caly 3, B70P, PMA11, K03, Kapara, REX 45 Military, 154CM Manix LW, Swick, AEB-L Urban, KC Cruwear Manix, M390 PM2, Mantra 2, CruCarta Shaman, M390 Manix, K390 Police 4, S90V Manix LW, Rex 45 Manix LW, 20CV Manix, Rex 45 Lil’Native, Shaman, C208GP, Cruwear Manix, Cruwear Manix, M4 Chief, Z-max!!!

First: this is a wonderful knife!

But now that I've handled it, I really wonder what the nubbin is for. :thinking

That RGT clip looks like it was meant to be on the sprint run. You made the right choice!

I know, and it's possible for me to get my finger up onto it, but not with a normal grip. Probably for people with larger hands than mine. My particular specimen may get modded so that the nub doesn't stick out of the handle when closed. Much to early for that decision, though.

I agree too. I'm trying to decide whether to get that clip. It looks great, but I believe it changes the knife from deep-carry to a carry closer to a typical Spydie clip. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. All that said, sometimes a less-deep carry is preferable, and sometimes a clip looks so good it doesn't matter. I'm going to carry mine for awhile with the OEM clip, and see how I like it.

The nub does work as a finger guard for me and I don’t think I have overly large hands.

I probably mis-worded my observation. The finger guard works okay for me, I just don't feel I need it because the handle itself works so well. When I grab the knife in a grip I would actually use, my hand doesn't touch the nub at all. I feel the same about the Mule's guard. The handles are so good (for me) that the guard seems unnecessary.

This conversation made me check my knife drawer, and I discovered I have very few knives with finger guards or nubs. If I were using the knife harder than I usually use knives, or stabbing with it, I would probably find a finger guard valuable.

With regard to deep vs not deep carry, I like it sometimes, but I REALLY like having a stiff and sleek clip on my nice Ti P.I.T.S.

Now, a thing that needs to be mentioned:
I had to file the RGT clip to fit the blue P.I.T.S. and then file it again to fit the new P.I.T.S.

The the gap between the surfaces that fit into the wire clip slots is not wide enough. I had to file inside surfaces of the keys to 0.061-0.62” wide to fit into the clip slots, but it was still a little snug. I’ll provide a photo pointing to one of the two surfaces that needed filing in MY case.

I would think that there’s very little variation in either the P.I.T.S. or RGT clip dimensions, but I don’t recall others describing having to modify the clips to fit. I don’t know if this is a common issue or unique to my limited sample size.

Hopefully, this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I sure don’t mind filing to fit, if I get this clip. Their website acknowledges that the clips may not fit the P.I.T.S.

I consider the nub to be "finger insurance". It is especially useful here, because the blade does not have a half-stop. Without the nub you could inflict a nasty cut when you disengage the "lock" if you don't pay attention.

Lamnia and AltonaerSilberWerkstatt will be offering the PITS and honesty I expect that KnivesAndTools will have some too. This model is legal in Germany so I expect interest in spite of the rather high price. But I am also expecting the stock to be very limited
