But I've read a ton of older thread about REXsteels, mainly here (since I already have read Larrin's articles ).cjk wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 6:21 amDoes anyone know what REX stands for in the names of Crucible "High Speed Steels For Cutting Tools"?
I assume it's an acronym for something. REX is only used in the names of Crucible high speed tool steels. I suppose REX could just mean king, but that'd be kind of uninspiring.
There was a lot to read about Cobalt. Here's a link of a thread Doc Dan started about REX121 : viewtopic.php?f=2&t=68699
It's not related to your question but bluntcut did provide a lot of information on the REX steels.
Thanks for the link Ramonade. I also searched for an hour or so trying to figure out the answer to my own question before I asked it on the forum, but came up empty. Since this thread was REX heavy, I hoped somebody here might know.
