Spyderco Vallotton
Can anyone give me these measurements, basically measuring the blade at its absolute longest length possible? Also, how do you like the knife? Pros, cons, etc? Thanks!

Re: Spyderco Vallotton
Sorry I can't help with this one. I love the look of the knife and almost bought one, but when I saw it in person it was just too thick and heavy for me to consider carrying it.
Re: Spyderco Vallotton
i just got one recently. if no one else beats me to it, i'll give you some measurements when i get a chance.
i've only carried the knife once and haven't really used it yet. it is a beautiful piece of art. i would totally trust it to do anything i need it to do, to include harder use (for a folder) survival stuff. i'd never purposely push it to that use though because it's too pretty.
the knife is definitely thick and heavy, but that doesn't bother me. i carried a cs 4max today which makes the vallotton seem small and light. i'm not a huge fan of how the clip carries, but i really don't expect to carry this knife often, so i don't see it as a big deal.
in my opinion, this knife is a piece of art, as i said above. for me, it's a special occasion blade that i could still trust to do everything. the finish is amazing and the action is so smooth. i do wish i could get the auto conversion though just because it makes a really cool knife even cooler.
james bond would want this knife.

Re: Spyderco Vallotton
I can squeak out 3&5/8" measuring from tip to back of thumb stud/blade stop.
Mine is a few years old. Not sure if their have been any cqi changes. The grind is really nice. It saves what would otherwise be a much too thick knife. The handle is blocky and much fatter than you would expect from pictures, but it feels good in hand due to the fat scales. The spydie hole was sharp! from the factory. Chamfered it a touch with a sharpmaker rod. Reverse flick is very doable but takes more practice than a pm2, my finger gets stuck sometimes. The action is superb. Shakes shut. Liner lock access is great.
Love it.

Awesome. How does it measure from tip to the rearward most point on the bottom? If it comes in clearly below 4 inches I’m going to order one.Vaugith wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 9:47 pmI can squeak out 3&5/8" measuring from tip to back of thumb stud/blade stop.

I would happily take a measurement on the lower side of the blade at the longest point.ladybug93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 9:31 pmi just got one recently. if no one else beats me to it, i'll give you some measurements when i get a chance.

Re: Spyderco Vallotton
I can confirm that it is much beefier in the hand than the pictures can show. I bought one one whim years ago because it looked great in someones picture next to a revolver. It's a safe queen for me now.

I would never have parted with mine but I was working with a retired police officer and he fell in love with it but was on a fixed budget and couldn't afford one so he got mine for next to nothing. I also didn't use it as much as I should have.

Re: Spyderco Vallotton
It is well below 4". As I said my measurement of 3&5/8 was the longest point I could find. The bottom measurement was less than that. The knife is also advertised as having a 3.75" blade.Soanso McMasters wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 10:04 pmAwesome. How does it measure from tip to the rearward most point on the bottom? Re: Spyderco Vallotton
Maybe try reading the technical specifications on the Spyderco website, they're very informative.
Re: Spyderco Vallotton
I have been tempted by the Vallotton... But figuring I wouldn't carry something that chonky very often, I tracked down a Lil, which I also like the look of better. It is lovely. Both are great.
Re: Spyderco Vallotton
it doesn't give the measurements he's looking for. depending on where you live and how police decide to enforce laws, they might measure to the same place spyderco does, or they could measure the way the op shows in his post. i understand wanting to be on the safe side. no one wants to go to jail for nothing.

Re: Spyderco Vallotton
The catalog lists the blade length as 3.75 and edge length as 3.56, doesn't list a handle length but overall length is 8.697. Total length minus blade length would be 4.947.
Blade HQ's website does list a handle length and claims it's 5 even, which subtracted from the total length would leave 3.697 of blade length left over. No matter how you measure it the blade can't possibly be 4 inches.

To me, the Vallotton looks straight out of an old New York mobster's pocket. Should have been named the Spyderco Gambino.
