Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
i'm kicking myself a bit for overlooking the brouwer until it was too late. it's okay... i'm fine.
i love the blade shape of this knife, but i can't get past that cutout at the base of the blade and the handle ergos look strange to me. you definitely have the best looking smock around though.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Thanks guys! Here's a couple better photos I took in the past. They really are pretty cool and unique scales, really changed the overall look of the knife.
The cut out on the blade does give it a snag point if you're not being careful while cutting. It's happened to me a few times over the years of having this knife. Takes a little more caution. The ergos, admittedly are not the greatest...but also, not terrible. For me, I like to put my index finger on the flat area of the handle behind the "choil". Then my middle finger falls perfectly into the cutout by the button lock. The rest my hand is in the neutral grip area of the handle.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
the same could be said about finger choils snagging, but i usually put my finger in them and that stops that from being an issue. as far as the ergos go, that's exactly how i was imagining i'd hold the knife as well. i don't think it looks uncomfortable, it just isn't very reminiscent of typical spyderco designs. it's a cool looking knife. just not one for me. i always love when you share photos of it though. :)TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 7:23 amThe cut out on the blade does give it a snag point if you're not being careful while cutting. The finest example of the the N5. Congrats on that get.
I wish they did the same fluting with the Native Chief in this combo.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Thanks! Took two years to reel it in. I think I am good with Natives and can focus on a couple of Chiefs and a Millie.
I have the plain CF/S90V Chief and I wonder if there is someone out there who can mill those scales into fluted ones?

Thanks! It definitely went a bit under appreciated when it was available, in my opinion.
Brad Southard did a great job with this one!z1r wrote:

I’m pretty sure that’s when I picked this one up. I way I could let it pass for the prices they were going for. Thanks!TkoK83Spy wrote: I remember when they were practically giving those away! Always thought it was cool, but was intimidated by it for sharpening reasons...really wish i took that chance these days. Nice to see that Nick.

I failed to embed the photo link initiallyFearDoiteain wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 3:18 pmI didn't consider the potential calming effects of Blurple when I bought this. I just wanted that sweet S110V. Though I will admit I find the lock stiff compared to my Benchmade and Hogue knives with Axis locks. I know it's a different spring design, but similar action.wrdwrght wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 2:26 pmMy first Manix2 in its original blade-grind, the exclusive pink G10 with titanium backspacer! So much fun finding Spydies from yesteryear.
I can easily imagine how NCOs in the 1960s’ US Army would have reacted to anyone carrying this knife. But would this color calm today’s knife-nervous public, I wonder.
And yes, I am somewhat imitating your photo composition. But considering all I really had to do was cross my leg, it wasn't 2 much of a Stretch
