Hey, twinboysdad:

Sadly, the Kahr Delicas were not a good fit for Kahr from a business standpoint. The gun industry and the knife industry operate on very different profit margins, so mixing the two is difficult. Dealers and distributors are conditioned to one price structure and products that don't fit it well tend to suffer.

Even when the Kahr Delicas were available, I was still grinding a few custom ones for Stay Safe Media to help support that business. Stay Safe is now closed, but my JanDelicas and Janduras are available from 5x5 Combat Solutions.

As for an "official" resurrection of snubby Delicas like those we made for Kahr, that's above my pay grade...

Stay safe,

Mike
Interesting and never thought about the two industries having different scales of margin. Is 5x5 the company that sells your Knuckslap too?

Hey, twinboysdad:

The Knuckslap is a project I did with AJ Singh of Tactical Elements.

I haven’t purchased one but think it is diabolically awesome. Wish it would get discussed here in Off Topic.

Mr. Janich
Just wanted to say hello and thank you for your contributions to self defense, especially in the area of cutlery. Also wanted to bump this thread and see if there is any news about the micro Jimbo.
Thank you in advance for your time and any info you can provide.

Hey, Co Pilot:

Thank you very much for your post and the kind words.

It seems like Sal and Eric liked my concept for the MicroJimbo, so it appears to be moving forward. That brings us to the challenge of discussing anything that hasn't been released yet. Unfortunately, many people in the world today have been conditioned--or have conditioned themselves--to demand information and to expect instant gratification. Before I go any further, Co Pilot, I am not saying that's you, I'm only speaking in general terms.

In the old days, Spyderco fans (me included) used to groove on getting the new catalog, seeing the new products, and enjoying the building anticipation until they were released. As comments on social media--and sometimes on this forum--got more and more toxic, the idea of announcing products well before their release became a net negative. That's why we came up with the Reveal process, which continues to evolve to address timeliness issues, social media trolls, and even Spyderco dealers who blatantly violate our rules.

With all that said, I respectfully decline to provide any other information on the MicroJimbo (since I honestly don't have any), nor will I speculate about stuff I don't and can't control. For now, the fact that Sal and Eric think it's cool is a win for me...

Thanks for tolerating my rant...

Stay safe,

Mike

That's cool to see this might happen! I've been enjoying the yojumbo quite a bit, so here's hoping someday people who enjoy the yojimbo but prefer a smaller size get their requests met too!

Oh I'm pretty excited about this. Are there any photos of the prototypes? Edit: I expect the answer is "probably not" as one wouldn't want another company to go copy it.

Spyderco crew, while you are at it, why not consider MagnaCut and salt version on this micro Jimbo?

Came across this custom Chicagojimbo today and thought I'd share.

Could this be the first step on our way to a production Microjimbo? Feel free to tell me off if I'm out of line here Mr. Janich.
