Szabo Folder Won't Self-Close

I recently received a Szabo Folder as a birthday gift, and while it's a beautiful knife, the self-close function does not seem to be working for some reason. Is there any way I can adjust this without disassembling the knife? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

new or used? some people cut or removed the tension spring on theirs. never seen this issue on a new one, they snap shut hard like a lockback.
