Yeah I should ask him about it. I'm not sure exactly how, but he was cutting something, must have been hard and he must have been cutting toward himself. I was told that it happened super fast, and that he figured it went in that deep because the whole blade was bloody when he jerked it out. He got some stitches and seems to be fine, not even limping from what I could tell.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 8:36 pmWow! How did he pull that off?? Sheesh, very lucky you didn't give him something like a Police, Military or Native Chief. That's very scary and sounds extremely painful! The Meat man wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 8:30 pmInterestingly, just the other day my boss, to whom I gifted a Spyderco Delica last Christmas, stabbed himself in the leg with it, apparently to the hilt! Just missed the artery. Yikes!

I measured mine a while back, and recently came across the measurements. Here you go:Sharp Guy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 8:17 pmMantra is also one of my all-time favorites. I had mine apart recently and did the detent mod plus added a ceramic detent ball. I'm fortunate that the bearings in mine are still looking good. I wish I would've measured them while I had it apart because I'd like to see if some of the Taco or Skiff bearings would work. I bought a set for my Southard but I'm sure they're too big for the Mantra. Maybe I'll take it apart again soon and checkAirlsee wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 4:31 pm
One of my absolute favorites...it could be my "one knife for life" if need be. Hopefully the bearings/washers/raceways hold up to decades of use.
If one develops an action/bearing issue in the years to come, will Spyderco do anything to repair it, or are we stuck since it's disco'd?
Question is open to anyone with info.

Yesterday I had my K390 Stretch 2 and my new K390 Dragonfly.
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Today, my ZDP DF@ and K390 Endela. Yesterday, since I was home, my Cara Cara 2 and Spy27 N5. Something really satisfying about carrying a <$30 knife that oozes as much quality as the Byrd.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
That's awesome! I had a similar experience at work about 5 years ago. I had just started working there and noticed one of the guys was carrying a Benchmade. I've also seen him carry a Sebenza to work and a Delica. My job is tough on knives so the fact that he was carrying a Sebenza blew my mind! The Delica is his all time favorite knife. He lost his last Delica and I just happen to have a CE Delica 4 collecting dust that I should gift him! I should add that everyone other than 2 or 3 of us out of 20 carry only a Leatherman. They all think I'm weird for carrying a knife.... they've also noticed it's usually a different one each day.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 12:38 pmPretty cool thing just happened here at work. I was sitting in my office, here on the forum and a newer maintenance guy popped in and asked if he could borrow my forklift for a bit. He says "ohh you like Spyderco?" I say "yes, I've got a few of them" He then says "let's see if you know this one" and hides his handle and just folds out the blade...this was VERY EASY for me...I see that familiar leaf shape that I absolutely love, and I know that sound of the blade clicking into place. I see S110V on the blade and say "that's a G10 Manix with the blue/purple scales" He looks at me, stunned...of course it was!!
I laughed and told him the G10 Manix is a top 2 model favorite model of mine and that I had 6 of them at one point. I pulled out my Native Chief and showed it to him. Glad to see another Spyderco fan around the mill!!

That’s awesome. Wish I had a work place like that. Even one other would be good.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 7:17 pmIt's funny, just a couple years ago I didn't know anybody else that was into quality knives. Now I know 5 guys at work (out of 260 or so) that are into them! It's been a lot of fun. We've had days where everyone brings in a few and we meet up in my office. One day we tallied it up and had over $3,000 worth on us combined! One guy isn't a user, but has some really nice customs that are a bit gaudy, but I can appreciate what they are. Show and tell and pass around haha! The Meat man wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 7:01 pmThat's really cool! I never had that experience yet. Native 5 LW Salt in LC200N.
Can't believe how tough the steel is, i've used it on ceramic plates for eating, managed to save the edge with a strop everytime !
Usually, if you're not that careful (and yesterday I wasn't, since we were not only eating...), stropping won't save ya from that mean ceramic !
