We need a sprint run of the Sage4. I vote for brass bolster and green canvas micarta. Oh yeah!

If you can find a fluted ti Native they are great. The fluted cf Native would be another great choice. Both are discontinued but occasionally pop up for sale.

I would suggest the Gayle Bradley 2 but I think you want a smaller knife.

For current models I will agree that the Chaparral is a nice gents knife.
The fluted CF Native is in the 2021 catalog. I think Spyderco is just between runs on those.

A couple more that might be worth a look are the Stainless Kopa and the Schempp Bowie. I’m also partial to the Chaparral and Baby Horn as edc models.

Well then that is 100% my suggestion if the OP is patient enough to wait. Thanks for the clarification.

You're welcome. I'm planning to get one myself this year just to be safe.

The answer is the Micro Dyad, Baby Jess Horn or an inlayed Kiwi.
Yeah, because those are easy to find these days... The others have made good recommendations for what’s actually available now, the new Chaparral model would likely be your best bet. Cheers, Radioactive
The Baby Jess Horn is still readily available.

The other two? Fair enough.

I appreciate all the suggestions, there are a lot of new models for me to research. I had seen the maple Chaparral, that is definitely in the consideration, are they a sprint run, will it be hard to get one?
I also kind of like the micarta scales on the Spyopera, but I have not read a ton about.

The maple Chap (like all other versions of it) is regular production!
So it might be out of stock from time to time, but you should certainly be able to get one! :) (and, if you´d ask me, SHOULD get one... ;) )
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I think the Pattadese could be a nice option.

I have a One Eyed Jack and it's really nice but maybe hard to find now as it's discontinued. The Sage models would be a good spot to look.

Or the upcoming Viele Phoenix.

This is a good sleeper pick. When I first saw pictures I didn't really think that much of it, but I saw a video with Eric going through that reveal and it looks much better when viewed from multiple angles. The contoured smooth g10 handles aren't as apparent in a flat pic. The blade looks nice and slicey with a fine tip too.

..... I am looking for suggestions on something that has an air of timelessness (the opposite of tactical) that could be an heirloom. I figured you all seem to be a friendly, knowledgeable lot, I am open to ideas. Thank you much.
....

Now what did you choose?

We also have an upcoming Sprint Run of the C-60 Massad Ayoob model. Not sure when we expect it's arrival but I'm quite certain we'll be seeing it here in 2021. That would be a model that could qualify as "classy" and as an "heirloom" model as well. The C-60 was from the 2002 era and is still a model that has continued to be sought after over the years.

Also the C-60 was originally made available in SE & PE both>> and the upcoming Sprint Run of the C-60 will be available in both edge types.

I was waiting for it to come in the mail, but USPS lost it for a few days. Image

I appreciate all the suggestions, this Chap fits the bill perfectly.

The more the merrier. This is an expensive place to spend one’s time.
I like all the plastic, g10, carbon fiber options because of the obvious utility, but there is something about the older materials that link us to the past traditions of knife ownership. However, in 20 to 30 years, all of the current Spydercos with be vintage, so someday some might say the same thing about FRN.

Pattadese with custom wood scales. I liked the suggestion of the Pattadese, Italian made which I prefer over the chaparral even though there’s nothing wrong with that. But as an heirloom, American made or Italian.

I just ordered one myself and put my money where my mouth is.

Among these five (top to bottom, a fluted CF S90V Native5; a C34P Jess Horn; a G10 VG10 Kiwi4; a CF XHP Chaparral; and a glass-fiber M4 Bradley Air):

my candidate is a just-arrived, built before 1999, polished black micarta C34B AUS8 Jess Horn II:

If I owned an earlier Kiwi version or a Kopa (see posts by The Deacon and Larry Mott regarding these Moki-made gems), I might have opted for one of them but this Moki-made one will do me nicely.

Not too long or short, not too tall, not too bellied, just right, and drop-shutty.

More pictures never hurt, right?
All I need to do is find a white micarta Baby Horn and I will... still not be satisfied. :D
