I wonder if the whole Covid-19 mess is going to set production back? I hope not but I can see it happening.
I think the COVID 19 debacle has set virtually everything back or at least altered most every established business to some degree or another. Not sure how bad it has affected the country of Japan which is obviously where the finished product is all going to take place.
We're just going to have to be patient folks.

Well, it's in motion, but will surely take time. First sample G-10 scales, made in the US are shipped to Japan, and once approved of, the sample prototype is sent to Golden. Once approved, an order is placed and production can begin. Also steel for this is shipped from Golden.

This is why I love Spyderco and tell everyone I know how great they are. I don't know of another company that's this engaged with their customers.

Am I alone in thinking this means it won't be VG-10? That steel would already be in Japan, right? I know other people have been asking for other steels, but I always assumed that this would be a VG-10 blade. Am I misreading this?

That was my first reaction (assuming I'm not wrong in my previous post).

Oh man... if my interest was piqued before, the "not VG10" aspect has me downright inquisitive.

when i saw this wasn't going to be vg10, i actually got excited that it might be coated h1. i would really love this knife blacked out with g10 and full se h1.

shipped from golden though... interesting. spy27 could've cool. cobalt g10 and dlc would look amazing.

Which American steels have they worked with in Japan? I know they've done S30V, but what else? And that doesn't rule out anything. It just shows us what we know they're able and willing to work with.

Man DLC/H1 would be so badass. I'd be very happy.

I love this company. Sal is just like that neighbor that enjoys shooting the breeze and tosses in the occasional cryptic Easter egg for you to chew on until he pokes his head over your fence again. A truly unique customer experience :spyder:
