Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
Ordered one at Bladehq. I’d prefer Knifecenter because of points, but their site had issues today.
Re the clip ... I agree it’s ugly. I will remove and leave it off, or go aftermarket. No big deal.
SO glad it’s got that steel interface in the lockbar. I wouldn’t have ordered if it hadn’t.
Good job Spyderco! Please bring back the Bowie with a similar lockbar insert!

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
I had the Bowie and didn't really care for it, prefer the Paysan, I'd still love to see it return just to kill off the ridiculous secondary prices these days.Molle Ninja wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 8:42 pmPlease bring back the Bowie with a similar lockbar insert!
Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
Hourglass clip on this knife? You've got to be kidding. Unreal.
Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
Swayback is 318EUR - 344$ on zii auld continent so you guys at $273 shoudn't be complaining :D
That stamped clip is an abomination on that piece.
I don't know who takes decisions in Spyderco to ruin beautiful expensive pieces with these stamped shiny clips.
I bet he does it on purpose just to have fun :D
Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
I, too, have been waiting on this for years....i don’t have a problem with the regular Spyderco clips.....but yeah, I was seriously hoping for a wire clip on this. I don’t think it completely ruins it, but I was slightly disappointed. Probably still end up with one if possible.
Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
A beautiful knife. I like the size and I don't care about the clip because I would remove it anyway. Not cheap, but it seems to be worth it.
Not exactly a lefty-friendly knife, though...

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
Do any other Spyderco frame lock or liner lock models have the lock slip issue? None of mine do (I have several). I don't think there'll be anything to worry about but understand why your being cautious.curlyhairedboy wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 3:48 amHappy it comes with an insert! Yeah I'm not expecting any issue, but I'll be looking for impressions.

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
The Spydiechef had a ton of reported issues with lockstick - not a safety issue like lock slip, but still something that people were talking about, and that a steel interface should prevent.

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
For those surprised by the price—I agree, it’s an expensive knife especially with that clip (ugh). However, people had the same concerns with the Bowie when it was around. There is expense involved in shaping the titanium in these designs versus using slab scales.
Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
Bummed about the clip, but still a model I’ve wanted for years now. A deep carry from lynch will be better than the hourglass for this one.

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
Agreed - do we think it's the standard spoon clip though? In the reveal it looks to me like it might be slightly modified, but hard to tell from the image.

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
I like the spoon clip best--bet it would be attractive if you blasted/etched it like the Nirvana's was.
That 3.53 inch blade length is a bummer, though...

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
I’ve heard complaints of the wire clips on other titanium knives leaving marks where it contacts the scale and slides around, maybe that’s the reason?

I think they’d probably build that into the steel lockbar insert, but who knows.Spydergirl88 wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 11:48 amMy guess would be over travel protection for the lock idk

The Clip on the SwayBack fits like a fist on the eye ... I'm not pleased.

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread
My best guess on the clip is that they were trying to get as close as possible to Slysz' original design
