In the Chief the Native has now come into its own. It now looks refined, elegant, and well balanced.

Always thought the Chief would be noticeable larger than an Endura, which has about the perfect size imho - not too big and not too small. But in fact the Chief really has virtually the same dimensions. Very cool! And S30V is totally fine.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

The unlined G10 would lend itself well to a salt knife.

Sounds good to me. I need some G10 Salts in my life. Preferably day glow neon yellow G10 with DLC blades and hardware.

Haven't looked around, but noticed that it's listed on DLT at $156 for email notification.

This was my dream knife ever since I held a prototype at Blade... It had liners...

Unfortunately, the removal of the liners has taken it off my list.
It's a real bummer, I was incredibly excited... Now im just disappointed.

Are you sure you can state that without ever having held the upcoming linerless Chief?! Of course I did not either, so I cannot have a based-on-experience opinion concerning specifically this model, but I am convinced it will feel and be in fact very strong..

Or is it, that you like liners more from an aesthetical point of view (by their looks...) or just generally by concept?

Just wanted to point anyone, who might have missed it, to the vid where Eric is breaking down the chief, in the "Spyderco youtube channel"- thread (thanks again Liquid Cobra for posting it!).

Such a great design... and featuring the amazing Native backlock (I sold my Native (not enough edge for the size) but I really miss that lock...

I think you underestimate Spyderco on this one. My
linerless lock back manix 2 is amazing. I’ll be getting a chief. Your loss

You sound like me last year when I was upset about the discontinuation of the liners on the G10 Native. Fast forward to May, 2019 and I sold both my linered Natives and now only have linerless G10 and FRN Natives. They both feel rock solid. Don't count it out yet or you may be eating your words like I did with the Native.

Posted this already in the "You Tube channel-" thread, but it fits better here:

Do you guys think there will be a FRN version of the Chief someday? I hope so, since the Native 5 also comes in linerless G10 and FRN.
While the G10 Chief is very light for its size already (111g), a FRN one would be even lighter and probably a bit more comfortable due to contouring on the handle...

That being said: NO complaints whatsoever if there will "only" exist the G10-version. What a perfect design!!

Yeah, the handle looks comfortable. I can't wait to actually get one in hand. Linerless makes this all the more appealing. The overall design looks very well thought out, from the pictures.

Who has actually had this knife in hand and can comment on how it feels?
