Seeking opinions on the Damascus Delica

#1

Post by curlyhairedboy »

Was browsing through the Spyderco Catalog and for some reason, the Damascus Delica caught my eye.

I've looked past it for years, but now it's calling to me.

Any owners have thoughts? How's the Damascus etching hold up to use?

Thanks in advance! :spyder:

Love it! Not crazy about FRN so the Titanium scales are a nice upgrade. I find the damascus/vg-10 blade very toothy and easy to keep sharp. Etching has been fine for me. Less contrast then when new and a few scratches, but has held up well.

I've handled the Damascus Endura that a friend owns, it is beautiful. I don't think he heavy uses it by any means but it had no noticeable issues. I thought about it when I purchased my delica but it was more $$ than I wanted to spend on that particular knife.

The handle is noticeably thinner on the Ti Delica than the FRN version

Interesting! would you say it's equivalent in thickness to, say, the pakkawood versions?

Definitely thinner than pakkawood and G10 versions as well.

Too pretty to use!!!

I have both and the observation above is accurate that the Ti is a bit more slender than the FRN. Never noticed this before.

Love the Damascus, don't care for the Ti (maybe if it was fluted or patterned somehow I might like it better).

The FRN/Damascus is my favorite Delica.

This is a gorgeous knife. Even my wife thinks it’s “ purdy “.
