 How cool is this??!!

I assume it's going to use a common steel, one I already own. Might put me into a position where I break my golden rule...

Oh my, this is the best news I could have hoped for! If you say LC200N I don't know what I'll do!

Thank you!

If it has LC200N it will match my post from a thread long ago... which would make me a WIZARD! lol

I'll buy it no matter the steel though.

I'll be happy with G10. It is more of a working tool after all. ;)

Although a compression frame lock in titanium would be cool!

I prefer strength over light. If you want light, get a Dyad Jr.

Hi Archangel,

New steel. Cow dung with Nitrogen added. We call it "DungijiN"/ Just kidding ;)

I could do LC.

FRN tooling is expensive and we like to kwow if there will be demand. Now G-10 slab or machined scales are so expensive that how to make a model and what to make it out of requires much thought.

FRN tooling is expensive, and G10 is expensive. So now are they both out of the race?

LC200N yessss....

Wait! I want to hear more about this "DungijiN"!

:P

So what's more expensive Ti or G10? I'll take either and have cleared out a spot in my pocket for either. :)

It's been ongoing for quite a while. We've already made about half dozen prototypes over the past 5 or 6 years. The original model was a double Reeve Integral lock and was to be H1. We couldn't machine the ramps well because of the work hardening nature of H1. Then we made one in VG-10. Like the first one, it had stainless Integral locks. No scales, just steel. After it was all said and done, it was gonna retail for about $350+ and we felt there was no path to success. Then we picked it up again about 2 years ago and made some design changes which required a bunch of R&D ( we think it's a patentable idea ) and now we're on our 3rd proto made in Golden.

FRN Tooling is expensive, but once we know there is demand, but the per part cost is much less. The last proto is G-10 with nested liners/locks. Now that I think I've got the basic design nailed down, I've got to figure out where to make it and what materials to use. Price is a big issue, as you may have seen some of the recent threads on our pricing. I still have to make another proto with 2 changes.

If we can't get it viable price-wise, then it goes into the "What might have been" box.

The Shaman ended up costing much more to make than anticipated and it was still difficult, so we're back to planning.

Those two posts sure show how long a timeframe it takes to get to market and costs involved.

I’ve looked at getting molds made for FRN type material, certainly not cheap.

Excellent!

I'll put in my vote for LC200N steel, but even VG-10 would be hard to refuse.
If this turns out to be a full Salt model I'll definitely buy it.

That's why it's so much more profitable to just copy a design once it's perfected. "It is a wise man that copies a successful man so that he too can be successful".
