Post by Sharp Guy »

I just saw a stainless Kopa on eBay. Looks like they might be dropping soon.

So he's the one to blame...
Any plans for more Kopas? With bolsters please..
This one (I am sorry to be ungrateful) is the black sheep in the Kopa family.. :(

They have said previously that this was the last. I am a bolster fan as well.

That's too bad.. I'd even get one made like my Photoshop mockup if I ever find a scratched/factory second one cheap...ish

I mean in an extreme case you could buy this one and have someone mod. Probably enough meat in the handle to machine away an inlay pocket. Final cost would probably be about the same as finding a vintage kopa, though...

Yes, it would require finding one cheap to start with (I know, what are the odds of that happening)

I almost ordered this today but held off for the same reason I cancelled my pre-order several months ago. I want a Kopa really bad but this stainless one isn't what I want. I'm still tempted to get it but I'm afraid it'll just sit in a drawer.

It's rather ideal for engraving.

The "Deacon" Kopa.

In fairness, Sal, I'd call it the "BH49" Kopa. As I recall Roman was the prime advocate for an all stainless Kopa.

Another alternative would be to have one engraved like I did with this SS Kiwi for a "faux bolster" look, Or go the other way and have the bolsters engraved in a way that made the central steel look like an inlay.

Another good idea. This one really does beg for that visual interest.

If I had enough skills and equipment, I would put in a “fordite” inlay.

Now that would be amazing.

For a small folder the KOPA has always intrigued me. I found that like a lot of Spyderco's "IN HOUSE" designs it's very versatile. I've often wondered what a KOPA or DYAD Jr. would be like with a supersteel blade.

Also this ought to be an extremely interesting piece for those who collect Spyderco's stainless handled folders. That list of stainless Spyderco folders is growing quite a bit in the past few years and this would be one that I would find to be a "must-have" piece to add to such a collection.

Another aspect I've always liked about the KOPA is that it would be a great small folder for whittlers, and wood-workers. I myself am not a big fan of small folders but I will say that Spyderco's are the best I've ever seen.
