Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives
Re: Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives
I would like the DLC on this orange background I've gotta say, but would take either
Re: Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives
I generally prefer non-coated too but I've been surprised at how worry proof DLC actually is. I bought my PM2 blackout off the Exchange a few years ago. The guy I bought it from said he was the second owner and it was obviously used. I've used it quite a bit and haven't really done anything to it (whereas I'm always wiping off my satin blades). The DLC had a lot of marks that were really apparent in daylight. Recently someone mentioned that DLC cleans up nicely with Flitz. So I a few nights ago I was looking at mine and I decided to give it a try. They were right! It looks pretty much like new now. The finish is more even than it's been since I got it too. I still prefer how satin finishes look but I'm a bigger fan of DLC now than I was before.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 01, 2018 8:11 pmIF you have enough knives, you can rotate them and not have to hard use one in particular. Making them all last a little longer. I know if I'm going to be doing a lot of cutting on a particular day, I'll definitely grab a satin blade knife. If just opening packaging or cutting a bit of cardboard, I have no problem with a DLC blade. I guess having a variety and being prepared for whats at hand can help preserve the look of a DLC blade.Chris_P_Bacon wrote: ↑Mon Oct 01, 2018 7:58 pmA non-coated blade is always my choice on stainLESS. As for finish, satin or stonewash is fine.
Totally not a fan of the way DLC coatings look over the long haul from hard use. Seen enough pictures to know its not for me.
I don't get why anyone would actually want DLC on a stainless blade that they plan to use. Judging from the poll results so far, most agree 2 to 1.
Now, for stainMORE high carbon steels like (52100, etc), if DLC helps hold your favorite rust inhibitor product in place, i'll give you that.
But even so, just not a fan of the way that blade will look years from now (if you actually put it to hard use).
Why am I expressing my opinion? Because the DLC lovers are extremely vocal, and not many of us opposed to DLC have taken the time to express our lack of love for it.
So far, I believe the poll results backup what I'm saying.
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!

Don’t normally like coated blades, but I have wanted the Halloween pm2 for a long time. Para 3 will likely find its way into the collection.
Re: Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives
If I rotate one knife a day then I will be in my 90's before I reach the end. Not just because of what I have to start with, but the fact that Spyderco Para 3s are like crack. Well, I'm not sure what crack is like, but it's got to be dang close.
Can you find it and can it cut?
Re: Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives
Is there another thread where these models are being discussed? How do people know the details or what they'll look like? Thanks...

I was told early 2019 a few weeks ago by Jeff at Cutlery Shoppe as well on the DLC. I didn't ask about the stonewashed.

I'd like to get both. But, I do prefer the stonewashed just a little bit more.

Re: Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives
I told them they should have had the black DLC with orange out for Halloween.

Re: Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives
Any hint on the pricing yet?
I'm normally not a big fan of DLC but i think the Cutlery Shoppe orange is one of the best colors for a black DLC knife. I'm also really loving the stonewashed finish on my Maxamet Para 3. Really interested how stonewashed XHP will look with orange.

I spoke with Jeff and they still show a October ship from Spyderco but that's all they can find out even though Eric was there a day or so ago.

Re: Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives
We need them pumpkin killers before Halloween. Also no sight of the REX 45 millie yet.
Re: Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives
Man, since missing out on the DLC PM2 CS years ago I'm really excited about the DLC Para 3.
