Congrats to the winners! Also, Mushroom, that is a gorgeous fish-tank shot of that knife.

Here is a photo of the (awesome) original Rescue knife, shown on a backdrop of my neighbor's defunct swimming pool:

While I do love beers, I tend towards nature shots (sorry Spydergirl).

Thus, the winner this week is:

Thanks my wife actually suggested the crook of that tree making it even cooler to me. I need to get a better camera someday as this was shot with my smartphone. Then I can try to get better at photography.

Sjucaveman, great photo. I used my smartphone as well. I always have it on me, and almost never my more expensive camera. I have been lucky to have some great photography mentors from this forum helping me and answering any questions I have about taken photos. I have been looking back on my posts on Instagram, and can notice a huge difference in photos. Keep up the great work.

You can take great photos with a phone. They have come a long way. A nice camera does not take great photos, a good photographer does. Lighting and composition are key and you need to have both of those in place before you can realize the improvements that a better camera offers. I bet that a lot of the winning photos in this thread and likely some in the calendar contest were in fact taken with phones.

When my son was born I splurged on a nice camera and a huge external hard drive so I could hoard a ridiculous number of photos of him. So far some of my best pics have still come from my phone. Not to mention that the camera you have on you is better than the camera you left at home which is where phone cameras really shine.

This is just however the advice of someone who is barely good enough to be called a beginner. ;)

Great shot, love it!
My first thought when I saw the picture was " :D Ooooh, nice shot!" and then I got a good laugh from the caption! ;)
Definitely looks like a puffball mushroom. I'm certainly not an expert, but if I had to make a (slightly researched) guess, I'd say Calvatia cyathiformis.

I went out for an overnight hike in the White Mountains of New Hampshire this weekend, and I was tempted to stop about every 25 yards or so for pictures of a new mushroom! I started the hike a day after the area had gotten some rain so they were abundant on along the trail, to say the least!

None the less, heres a shot from that trip with inspiration from Darby's post of course!

Yup, I am no expert but it appears to be some kind of puffball. It is 10 feet from my front door. I watered it today as we are about to get a week of rain and I want to see if it will keep growing. We did just get a short break of two days without rain so we shall see. It got pretty dry in just those two days and it is sitting in full sun all day. My lawn fills with boletes but this is the first puffball I have seen.

Abbazabba, I really love that photo of the Endura. The different textures in the image are very interesting together -- the FRN, the table, the foam in the cup. Super cool.
