Native 5 CS Exclusive is awesome but..

#1

Post by Slicydicey »

Just got my Cutlery Shoppe Native 5 in the mail and everything looked great except... The blade gap between the FRN was all on one side. My other native lw has a small gap on both sides between The blade and FRN. I also noticed the lock bar and FRN was not as tight of a fit as my other native. Initially I assumed as always I was being overly critical, but I spent the night at work thinking and decided this wasn't right. Normally I would send it back to supplier but living in Canada the shipping cost alone would not be worth it. I figured it was a FRN burr or some sort of assembly issue as my other Native lw is just perfect. As soon as I got the knife apart I could see there was residue orange FRN burrs where the octagon part of the pivot spacer inserts into the handle. With a couple Q tips and some persuasion with the tip of a para 3 I removed all excess FRN. Re assembled the knife and it was perfection as always. :)

Nice fix, initially I expected the blade grind was off center.

Nice job -- and thanks for the great pics! Cool to see what's involved in pulling a Native apart in case I ever have to.
