Was he wearing an ascot? If so that was probably Jurphas who is Spyderco's European rep. A very nice and as you said enthusiastic man. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Amsterdam and he was our MC/Drill sergeant for the day.

I hear ya there, they are pretty radically styled, but it can actually be pretty functional. I really like an upswept tip, it can be very useful at times. Obviously the Mamba and the Tighe Stick aren't quite purely utilitarian and those handles probably won't fit everyone, but I'm sure they're still good users and if I had hundreds of dollars to toss to the wind I'd get a Mamba since I also love flippers. Unfortunately I don't, so I won't. And I really don't feel bad about that, since there are plenty more good looking knives in my price range that I will undoubtedly prefer anyway. Still, to anyone who does get one, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. It is a Spyderco, after all.

To me it seemed as though Sal put a Para2 in the dryer and shrunk it until it had a three inch blade. Everything else seemed just like the Para2 except it was a smaller scaled down version. I think people are gonna love this new mini Para and it gives people a 3 inch compression lock which is super cool.
Are there pics of this thing? Release date? OMG is this a dream come true? :D

I read Sal saying that the Slysz SpyderChef was next, Swayback after that.

And it keeps getting better! :)

Got to go on Saturday, and the Spyderco prototypes are always a must see.

1st off I am really liking the look of the new Lil'Temp. You can definitely see the family resemblance, minus the shredder pocket clip. Also hoping it stays VG-10 steel, which hopefully keeps it from being too expensive.

The Mamba is a beautiful knife. I have no need for that knife, but I want it.

There were also 2 versions of a prototype flipper that I really liked. Hope to see them in the future.

Also a little off topic I saw a youtube video of a makers first folder at Blade Show (SK23) by Kevin Smock. He licensed Spydercos compression lock and made a wharncliffe flipper with a push button release of the compression lock. Thought it was cool not just the Spydie hole was getting licensed.

The SK23 is a fantastic design and was definitely my favorite non-spyderco of the show. I talked to Kevin for a while and told him he should put a hole in the blade and send a prototype to Golden.

I hope that spyderco will produce a flipper in cheaper materials to bring the price point down. I'd love to have one, but can't afford the current offerings.

Uh...isn't that kind of a big deal? People have been asking for this for a long time.
It's a big deal to me. That's for sure.

RadioactiveSpyder wrote:Yes, yes, the Shaman soon please! A Sage with a comp lock is nice and all, but this larger comp lock Native is really what I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of someday soon(?). A cross between a PM2 and a N5 sounds like a match made in heaven, or at least Golden. Thanks for the tidbit Lance. Cheers, Radioactive :)
+1 on the Shaman (M4 please).
