no knife buying for a little while...
Just got approved for the car I was shopping for last night! Hope to get out there today to get payment setup.
2000 Ford Escort Coupe ZX2...
2.0L, 4 cylinder(but she's got guts for the size, punch it and she goes on the highway)
loaded, automatic, black
88K km, 11.9K sticker price... we got it for 10.4K+fees and taxes.
250/month for 5yrs.
Guess I'll be doing a knife sale in a month or so to get a chunk of that. Tax refund and GST are goign against it too. See if I can't get it paid off in under 4yrs.

Always a good idea to buy a used car. If you like Ford, I would have gone with a Focus. That is a great car, especially the SVT version. I just got a used VW Beetle Turbo S. Its fully loaded. Two tone lether, heated seats, 6 speed manual, 17in wheels, lowered suspension, Monsoon soundsytem, 180hp turbo 4cyl. It's a fabulous car! New they go for about $24K, but i got mine in new condition with 9K miles for $15K. I love it!

If I wasn't able to have gotten the Dakota I was going to buy one of those in a 98 model. The guy had a real good deal on it.57K 3000.00.They are cheaper around here because the market got flooded with them from rental car companies.
Last summer dealers were offering Escorts with 10K for 6000.00.Didn't take them long to all get sold.

Oh BTW I know what you are talking about on the power.I test drove the one I was looking at several times and it had way more power than it needed.

Congratulations. My first car was a 76 Honda Civic Station Wagon. That was about 58-60 cars ago. They are fun, but they can cost you. Good luck, post a pic.

the nice thing about no heavy buying for 5yrs is that I'm heading off to get my machining in the fall and thats 4-5yrs... means I'll come out of school with a car paid off, and get to really enjoy freedom(plan to work my way through school, so student loans will be minimum).

Congrats on the car, and good luck with the school. Sounds like you have a good plan. Just let us fellow Forumites have a heads up when you are looking to sell them cute little <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s
