Replacing Kraton Handles...pics?

#1

Post by Hotpockets »

Has anyone replaced the kraton handles on their pro-grip or similar knife with something else? I'm considering having this done (or trying it myself) to my favorite pro-grips and would love to see pics of the results if anyone has any. Thanks! (Great forum! Everyone seems to get along. I guess spydies just make people happy!)

I'm working on one of my Spur's to put a piece of Extreme Curly Birch wood where the kraton was. Will post pictures when it's done.

Ted, curly maple should look awsome anxious to see pics when you're done.
Hotpockects, welcome to the forum replacing the Krayton is simple to do.
I've done several dozens so far using c/f inserts.
The hardest part is getting a perfect fit, I wasted several pieces before getting 1 master pattern to work from.
Now I use this as a basis to start with and slowly adjust for each particular knife.
Spyderwa, I'd be happy to send you a piece of c/f that will do your Pro Grip for free, just e-mail me your snail mail addy.
I have blk/silver gold/black and some silver/grey on hand at the moment (More silver ordered). Ron

TED-The curly birch will look great against the SS handle of the spur;can't wait for the pics. sc_rebel1957- I've never handled carbon-fiber before, is it grippy at all or smooth and slick. It looks great on a spydie. That black and silver or black and gold would look good on the pro-grip. Thanks for the pics!

Great idea Hotpockets! My Pro-Grip is pretty new so I'll wait for the Kraton to peel before I try anything radical though <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I'd love to see G-10 shell, or any mother-of-pearl-like finish, on the space left by the Kraton cut-out. The shape of it is beautiful and just begs for an inlay!
