It never ceases to amaze me.
People who go to the "family lawyer" and
they immediateley get the impression they know "the law" and how civil & criminal actions are brought in those respective courts. I worked for a friend who(m) practiced law for something like 40yrs
( he's semi-retired now ) and for the year
and a half I spent so doing I really got my
belly full of clients who'd have a case
settled and start carrying on about "the law"
and "this is illegal!" -or- words added to their lexicon like "legal", "lawful" or "legitimate"...
...and not a one of them knew anything about
American Jurisprudence ( or, for that matter,
about what rights they had under the Constitution ; especially in criminal matters, like "taking the 5th" ( so as not to incriminate themselves ))
Due to this - I didn't pursue a "career"
dealing with such idiocy. Everyone's an
expert when they know a little ; I heard it
as :
"a little knowledge is a dangerous thing"
I also read of the "experts" ( even if they've been "in the trade" of producing knives ) here on the forum ( there's always
something new to learn in any trade, I've found )
Am I an "expert"? Hardly. I do have a year
and a half of seeing how the court system works and most of all seeing how delusional
most clients that frequent a lawyers office are. That's why I bristle when people post here about something being "legal" or "illegal" and cite their State's ( or Countries ) "laws". Let me assure all of you
it comes down to if you're ever stopped by the cops ( with regards to CDW ) and it's ultimetely up to them if you're gonna get charged or not ( how you deal with the cops
is how they'll deal with YOU! )
Oh yeah, most people aren't vindicated in court, and few "do time". Often a lawyer
gets you a "deal" ( of sorts ) called a
"plea bagain" with the prosecutor.
Seldom are juries of twelve empaneled anymore
( usually in murder cases ; it cost the State
TOO **** MUCH! ) And, good forum-ites, if you can't afford $300-$500 AN HOUR for a good
mouthpiece you'll get stuck with a "pvblic defender" at best.
Also, if any of you are "gun slingers", keep
"justifiable lethal force" in mind if some @$$hole tries to rob you of the $50 in your pocket : You shoot him, you'll probably get time!
So much for "Equal justice under "the law""!
AET
Let me win your hearts & minds, or I'll burn your **** huts down!

Hey Allen can you finish your post with a "Closing Statement" so we can know what you were really ranting about? When I post or E-mail I usally have to do this as I go all over the place<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
But I do agree it's all in the hands of the Officer.
