Spyderfly handles

I saw on a facebook group someone trying to sell a spyderfly. He claimed it to have titanium handles and as far as I know they only ever made them with cast steel handles. It was not the rainbow version which I believe is still cast steel.

I mentioned to him on his thread that I was pretty sure that they were only ever made in steel and said to be sure he could test it with a magnet and see if it sticks, he responded that it did NOT stick to the handles but did to the blade so out of curiosity I got out my spyderfly and tested it and the magnet would stick to any part of the knife.

I'm just curious if anyone can confirm or deny what I thought to be the case, and let me know if ANY titanium handles were ever made (except possibly as a custom situation).

that site and my personal experience is exactly what i go by when I assert something about spyderco knives, I guess it's all I have to go by unless there is someone that was hardcore collecting when the spyderflys came out that can say if there was anything other than those available.

FYI i'm not just looking for another answer, I believe what I said to be true. I just like to know beyond a reasonable doubt with I tell someone that something they say is incorrect.

and If he really DID test his by magnet and it wouldn't attract then something weird is afoot with his spyderfly.

FYI, there are two types of stainless steels--ferritic and austenitic. Austenitic stainless steels are non-magnetic. Here's a deeper explanation:

Yep, but as far as I know, there aren't any magnetic titanium alloys. Magnet sticking to the handle is a pretty good indicator that it isn't titanium.
