Spyderco OTF

#1

Post by archangel »

Has there ever been an OTF spydie? Ever been plans to introduce one?

Sure, the spydiehole would be wasted. But there are existing designs in which the hole has no function, so...

Can't speak to what might have been considered in the past, or may be considered in the future but, to date, Spyderco has never offered an OTF. I doubt they ever will, but I'd like to see one, as long a it's PE, DE, and DA.

Something likes this ^^^ would be awesome in the Spyderco line. I LOVE my Microtech's--especially the OTF's. Since the Janisong is not yet available in the USA, I believe a Spyderco OTF made in Golden, CO would indeed satisfy my cravings. :D

Edited to add:
Naturally, a Spyderco OTF made in Golden, CO would be a costly venture to make and sell. However, I would sure as heck buy one, even if they ran $350 or more.

Thanks for the explanation. Yeah, double edge and double action would be a must. Partly serrated or plain would not make a difference for me. And Yes, with competitors such as Microtech, it would be tough business. But still, could be worth evaluating. In fact I doubt that it hasn‘t been yet. Would be nice to hear what Mr. Glesser has to say...? :)

I agree, I don't think Spyderco would produce one given number of autos they make. I would still be first in line if they did. :)
