Spyderco Para 3 Variant Pics

#1

Post by scottabrandeberry »

I have dabbled in Spyderco knives over the past few years, have bought and sold a few, and have kept a few precious ones long term, but I hadn't "went crazy" for a model until I discovered the Para 3. I have always really liked the PM2, and I really like larger knives in general, but for some reason, the Para 3 really does it for me. Maybe it's the timing. I didn't have the extra cash when all the cool variants of the PM2 were coming out, so trying to collect all of them on the secondary market just seemed to be too cost prohibitive. I seemed to have discovered the Para 3 early enough that I can work on trying to collect the variants that I missed out on so far without breaking the bank.

Anyway, here is my Para 3 collection so far. Let's see what everyone else has as well!

I only have one. It’s the lightweight model. I like it and LOVE the paramilitary blade shape and compression lock but I’m just not a fan of how small it is. I prefer the PM2. I do like how this one weighs almost nothing though. My wife actually carries this one quite a bit.

The nice polished edge I put on it on my Edge Pro. It’s not as nice as a lot I’ve seen but I’m still kinda new to this level of sharpening.

Looks like you have it set at a couple different angles, or maybe didn't spend enough time to apex before a possible microbevel attempt? Easy fix though!

Yeah I’m still working on getting good at it. It wasn’t a micro bevel attempt. I think I’m still just struggling to hold it rock steady on the “table” of the Edge Pro. I have the little magnet but I think I’m still getting a little movement. Plus I don’t have the full set of their diamond matrix stones yet so the lower grit I’m using my TSProf diamond plates and then at 650 grit switching to the diamond matrix. I do have the stop collar to adjust for different thickness stones but I’m wondering if it’s still off just a hair? It’s definitely no pro job but it’s screaming sharp and has a nice shine so I’m pretty happy. If you know what you’re looking for and look close though it’s not 100% for sure.
