Old Spyderco Advertising in Magazine !
Old Spyderco Advertising in Magazine !
Hello,
I was looking for an old advertising showing a cheetah and the very first Police model for my C07 review.
When I have found some very old (even the first I believe) Spyderco ads in a magazine !
More can be seen there, as I will update my page:

Cool. I have a lot of knife mags from early 90’s. Lots of different ads. None that old.
- best wishes, Jazz.

Long ago! I remember seeing that ad more than a few years back! It was NOT the reason I bought a Khalsa!
Re: Old Spyderco Advertising in Magazine !
Hi Nemo,
Yes, that was our first ad. There were two ads with the Cheetah. The first used photographs and the second one was drawn. (shown above). The Khalsa ad was released about 9/11. There was also a poster made. We ended up pulling the ad and parking the poster because of 9/11. Though Jot is a Sikh.

Nowadays, the professional grievance mob would go after you for that ad!

It is what its called "synchronicity". Not in meaning but in image. Incredible !sal wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 2:53 pmHi Nemo,

Re: Old Spyderco Advertising in Magazine !
WOW! I love it. One of my interests are old knife advertisements and tool advertisements.
Look at that beautiful little Spyderco Worker there for 39.95. It was released in 1981.
Here is what an Inflation Calculator told me:
"What cost $39/95 in 1981 would cost $108.76 in 2018.
Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2018 and 1981,
they would cost you $39/95 and $12.92 respectively. "
Let's round up and say since it is 2019 that same knife would now cost 110 US Dollars. Wow the effects of inflation.

A 1981 2 screw worker is worth a bit more now.

Re: Old Spyderco Advertising in Magazine !
I actually have a full sized wall poster of that Jot Singh Khalsa C-40 model. The Spyderco poster I have I'm sure was a dealer's advertisement of that model when it came out new. Also that poster is a bit controversial because it has Jot Singh Khalsa riding on the knife as though it was a magic carpet in the New York City skyline with the "Twin Towers" ( World Trade Centers) in the background. I've only showed it to 2 people since 9-11 happened and I've not seen one for sale or trade since then.
I've got a big load of past Spyderco catalogs, brochures and older ads from the past which I've kept for a long time. Actually I find all of them just about as intriguing as I do all the Spyderco products I currently own. I just wish that they would eventually do a sequel to the "Spyderco Story" book written by Kenneth Delavigne. It's coming up on twenty years since it was written. You would think that someone in the company or Mr. Delavigne himself would take it on.
