Haunt's a strong word but, man, I wish I had a stainless bolstered c.f, damascus Caly3. Beautiful knife.

Aside from any sprint runs...
I gotta go with the Brouwer.
I know all the complaints everyone has and the price keeps me from pulling the trigger
But oh man is it pretty to me. Completely functional, nothing too fancy, and it looks as unthreatening as possible. It's almost like something your euro grandpa would carry, something you put into a pocket sheath.
It's classy.
I kinda wish it was available in something like cruwear

Maybe I'm mistaken but I don't see any message in my forum inbox...

First for me was the titanium military which I bought brand new a number of years ago and carried it everyday since then. Second one I waited until the stars lined up and my wife bought me a Spydiechef a few weeks ago. In that short amount of time it has become my all time favorite pocket knife. I can't say enough good things about the Spydiechef. I love it so much I want to buy two extra's just in case they are discontinued. The last one which I have not been able to pick one up yet is the Spyderco Massad Ayoob. I have wanted this folder for years but I never seem to have the money or find one for sale when I do have the money.

The Spyderco which haunts me the most is the Manix 2 in red G10 from DLT because I was not able to get one.

It was haunting me but is in the mail now. A 440v SE Military :)
Good find. Let me know how strong the detent is when you get it. Mine is a great knife, but of all my dozen or so Millies, this is the weakest detent. It doesn't appear to be an issue of age, I have several around those years that are probably my strongest detent and lockup
To follow up: I actually got two now: the first one is #10 of these knives made, and has only scale screws from one side. That one went into the safe. The second one is a little younger, with scale screws on both sides, will be my user, and I just worked it over, still need to sharpen it when it's dry tomorrow. Note that it still has patent pending on the clip.

The first one has late lockup (70% or so ?) and strong detent. The second one has normal (10-20%?) lockup, but you are right, detent is not too strong. Similar to - say - the typical Taichung Spyderco (100 Pacer or Amalgam, for instance). But perfectly usable, and came out beautifully centered. Both knives have only one steel liner on the lock side, and 4 Teflon washers, similar to - say - the Chinook 1.

Most interesting to me is that the Pivot screw on these old Militaries has a fine thread. I wish Spyderco had kept the fine Pivot thread on newer knives as well (in particular the Paramilitary), makes fine adjustment of the action so much easier.

Anyways, this will be a great knife for food prep in particular. It also is my first (and probably will remain my only) serrated pocket knife.

Roland.

I have had a number of Spyderco knives over the years; which means I have been fortunate to have personally experienced many designs. My most anticipated knife is the Para 3 LW. I only have a small Great Eastern Cutlery slip joint as my daily carry but I want another, larger Spyderco and that one should be outstanding. However, the one that “haunts” me, is the Raffir Noble Chaparral. The combination of the unique scale patterns and the refined efficiency of the Chaparral is seldom found in the knife world and someday I will get one.

I appreciate the heads up, but those are a bit too worn for my taste/demands. Thanks anyway! There was one LNIB a while back but i missed it.
