It's been 8 months....
.... Since Sal announced on BF that he will be making a Caribbean with a 4.25 inch blade.
I realize we must deal with "reveal", but is there any updates on this model, even if they don't have anything to do with the exact release date? I am very interested!
Anyone else eager for this?

Honestly did not know about the plans for a longer Caribbean, quite interesting, thanx!Pelagic wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 6:29 am.... Since Sal announced on BF that he will be making a Caribbean with a 4.25 inch blade.

I probably would not buy one (Endura length is enough for me), but just conceptwise I find a 4.25 blade Caribbean interesting: As in this model blade length almost is the same as actual cutting edge, such a knife would probably feature one of the longest edges (not blades!) Spyderco ever offered in a folder, right? Right now just the Tatanka comes to my mind for having an even longer cutting edge (guess there may be more models I don't think of at the moment?)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Re: It's been 8 months....
Yes, it would certainly be one of the biggest folders offered, especially in terms of usable cutting edge. This and the larger handle (which fills my grip more fully and comfortably) has me interested, along with the LC200N blade steel and liners.

I think I saw a post where sal said it had been shelved. I could be wrong, though.
I don't get people who only carry one knife

I hope you are, haha!Catamount123 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 7:19 amI think I saw a post where sal said it had been shelved. I could be wrong, though.
Still in the works as of September.... I'm sure he'll clarify.
Re: It's been 8 months....
I'm tempted by the carribean but when I heard about it being the smaller one I passed to wait for this one. I'm all for large comp lock knives and being rust proof is also a plus.
Re: It's been 8 months....
I can't wait to see this one, I like the Ti integral compression lock idea for the big one.
I know the current one is about perfect.

I just want the Waterway and Bow River, lol.

I, too, recall Sal saying the larger Caribbean has been postponed. I’m disappointed.
My Caribbean (PE Leaf) is showing itself to be one of Sal’s most thoughtful designs (among other things, it gives nested liners a whole new meaning). It’s a delight in every way (including the playful sculptured black and yellow G10 that has turned off some here).
Being a fan of bigger Spydies, I’ll be happy as a clam if and when the bigger Caribbean materializes and is nothing more than a scaled-up version of the smaller.

NOOOOOOO!
Welp, guess I'm getting a Caribbean somewhat soon. I was really holding out for the XL.
I've encountered some unfortunate hotspots while carving wood with my cruwear pm2 (weird shooting pain in wrist getting through a knot). It made me realize how inferior the ergos are for me in hard use, so I think I'll be slowly phasing out my pm2's in favor of models with larger handles that fit my grip more fully. The Caribbean is one that I'd like to pick up.

Sal mentioned they were shelving the larger caribbean for now. Can't recall which thread the post was in, but like others I know I saw it.
I was holding out for the larger version too. If they aren't making it I'm just gonna go with the Waterway.

It's on hold for now. Cost is very high.

Thanks for answering. That's a lot of LC200N and G10.
Re: It's been 8 months....
I've been waiting for a lot longer for a Maxamet sword.
Can you find it and can it cut?
