Is the BD1N steel in the new PM3 lightweight more or less corrosion resistant than Bohler N690 ??

Or actually just BD1 with multiple color options would be fine with me to keep cost low

Michael, if Spyderco released a Lightweight Paramilitary Tanto would you get one, and, if yes, would you want it in combo edge or plain edge?

I replied earlier that I'd like to see more K390 in Spyderco including this model but really, let's just get the proposed version in BD1N out. I'd like to hold it, use it, abuse it a bit to see what it feels like first before we get too carried away with other versions.

I'm hoping for a Brown FRN with CTS-XHP, Grey FRN with Cruwear, and Red FRN (or blue) with M390.

I love all three of these.

I'd add: Burnt Orange / K390 and Oxford Blue / S110V.

I suppose you mean Para Military 2? Either that or a Para 3, I would pass. I am not a fan of Tanto blades preferring shapes like the Para Militaries or the Military, and the spear and leaf shapes. I do not have much use for serrated blades so I would prefer a plain edge.

id like one with Gray FRN and a non stainless like m4. I think a patina would look good with that color scheme.

or, an all blacked out version, with dlc blade (m4 again?) and black hardware!

CTS-XHP
Cruwear
CPM-4V
CPM-3V
LC200N Salt

Any other steel, I'll only get it if I like the scale color. I'll swap scales with my BD1N, and sell it to someone who likes black scales.
I don't get people who only carry one knife :thinking ;)

CRUWEAR
K390
Salt LC200N

And depending on how much I like the Urban AEB-L sprint (if I’m lucky enough to get one), I’d add that to the list. Otherwise I think I’m good.

Perhaps the para3 lw handle could be solid carbon fiber in place of frn as a sprint/exclusive. The fluted cf native and 40th are linerless solid cf and work. So I don’t see why adding the single partial liner and pivot support for the para3 couldn’t work or be sturdy enough. Unless the native’s lockbar and backspacer provide extra support needed, which the para3 lacks of course. Which only has a floating stop pin, a standoff, and barrel screw for the clip. Or am I way off?

Either way, imagine a LW solid cf para3 though. Preferably s90v. Would that not be an amazing package? :spyder:

Sounds good to me. I wonder how they would fasten that partial liner to the CF?

The bidirectional pattern from FRN would not be possible in solid CF; At least not in a production capacity. Though, I don't see why a regular Para 3 in solid CF couldn't happen.

Also, I'm sure it would be possible for Spyderco to modify the current g10 Para 3 to accept the partial liner from the lightweight, but I don't know if it would be worth it for them to do that.

With that said, I'd love to see a Fluted CF Para 3!
