Tanto PM2 Support Thread

#1

Post by curlyhairedboy »

As seen in BHQ's Shot Show 2019 video, Eric has in his pocket a Tanto PM2.

This is a great addition to the PM2 line, imo.

The last tanto release was the BHQ Lum Tanto, but this seems to offer several advantages:

- superior compression lock
- stronger tip than conventional PM2 while maintaining existing PM2 ergos

Ever since the Shaman was released, it's kicked the PM2 out of my pocket due to the fact that I can use the tip with a lot more confidence.

The Tanto PM2 might put a PM2 back in my pocket!

Would like to own again: CQI Caribbean Sheepsfoot PE, Watu

I haven’t had time to watch the video yet but I fully support this Tanto idea. I’ve felt for a long time that there was a hole in Spyderco’s linup with no Tanto blade offering. This is a perfect solution since tanto’s don’t seem to sell very well according to Spyderco. They can just use the para 2 tooling and change the blade grind. If it sells, great. If it doesn’t, it’ll make for one heck of a collectible.

Really cool to see!

Sounds like it might become a BladeHQ Exclusive?

:spyder:

Quick screenshot from the BladeHQ video. Eric said this is just a "hand ground prototype."

I really like the tanto blade on Benchmade's 940 Osborne ... something of a sheepsfoot tanto. I find it to be much more applicable for my uses which may include field dressing and skinning. I still hope to see this anyway cause it is really cool!!! Maybe I'll have to get two; queen one and re-profile the other. Oh golly, wasn't looking to expand my collection of PM2's.

I'm just imagining the incredible *thunk* that tanto blade must make as it flips into locked position.

Sounds like empowerment, just like the Shaman.

I'd buy one. Not my favorite blade type at all but I currently don't have any tantos. Feel like I should have one.

I'm in,
I'd like the tanto to be more rounded like the lum, not such an American chisel grind tanto but I really like the concept.
