These a beautiful pieces. If my dad was still with us he would have loved one. And it would have been a user.

Since these Native Abel knives were shipped to customers in February......I have not seen a single review of them either on here or on Abelreels.com site.

I wonder why that is !!??

None sold !!??

You should take a look at quality fly fishing gear. Plenty of fly fishers have, in addition to multiple graphite rods, hand made bamboo rods that cost $1500 and up to $3000. Abel reels aren’t cheap but they sell them about as fast as they can make them. A $300 trout or bonefish knife is no big deal.

It's NOT $300......It's actually $495 ++ 14.61 shipping = TOTAL $ 509.61

Just wanted to correct the factual record.

If it was only $300, I might buy one.

Bullwinkle,
Your assumption would be incorrect. The knives haven't shipped yet so no one has one to review. The first batch of knives sold out in January and the second batch is selling quite well.

Your post seems quite negative and I'm not sure that I understand why. You're fairly new here so perhaps you aren't familiar with the general tone of our forum but we ask that everyone remain respectful and courteous to others. If the Abel Reels exclusives aren't for you, that's perfectly fine but there's no reason to try to "stir the pot." Particularly, with false information.

Spyderco knives seldom sell for full MSRP. That is why I ball-parked the cost at around $300. I have spent much more than that on a graphite fly rod and quality reel. I just wanted to note that while the price of these knives may be too steep for you, they are not for others.

Regards.

I predict that this is going to be one of those knives that takes a long time to sell out, but once it's gone becomes a phantom grail of the Spyderco collector's world, with people posting "finally got one" in this forum for years to come.

I'm interested in buying one but was waiting to see a review first. Since none are posted I called Abelreels.com and got answers from them. This is what he told me about the process:

1. Spyderco sent blank Native scales to Abel
2. Abel did the artistic anodizing and returns completed scales to Spyderco
3. Spyderco completes the knife assemblies and then returns them to Abel
4. Abel then sends them to customers who ordered.

No completed ones have been sent out yet as Spyderco is still assembling them......behind on work......

The New Product Reveal says COMING SOON.

Looking forward to them.
