Dating Myself...

#1

Post by Knifewing »

I have a question for those of you who've been collecting Spydercos for a while. Was there ever a plain edge Navigator with a SOLID blue Almite handle? I've seen them with slotted blue Almite handles, and I have one with an SE blade and solid blue handle. And I believe a plain edge Experimental Navigator came with a G-10 handle. But solid blue Almite and PE--did it ever exist? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Bet Sal or Deacon could chime in.
I haven't seen one though.
I've been watching around for that model.
Waiting for a great one at the perfect price (I like the slotted)

Hi Knifewing,

We've made quite a few navigators over the years. The original design was from the 80's. I remember seeing one also.

Yes, solid Almite in both PE and SE (1998 Ironstone). The color is more blue-grey than the slotted Almite, which is more like the blue Salsas (not the purple-tinged blue Salsas).

I'll see if I can pull out some of mine for comparison shots.

Here's a couple of pics of the Ironstone Blue Almite IS CX02S by itself.

I think if you look around you'll find someone else to date besides yourself. :)
Can you find it and can it cut?

I seriously thought this would be off topic as well

I dunno, Crux. I'm not bad looking, like sports, and laugh at all my jokes. So overall I think I'm a pretty great date. But seriously, thanks to all (and Sal!) for your replies and info. Those solid Almite PEs are rare; slotted versions seem much easier to find, probably because they're more recent.

Looks like a prehistoric Dragonfly on one evolutionary tree and the ancestor of the Meerkat on the other.

They made them years (decades) ago. I have a few and would love to see an update on the design.

I recall there being a plain edge version too. Want to say I saw them in an old A.G. Russell catalog.
