Why not just call it a sprint mule, no extra cost for assembly of folding handle materials?
I really wish I discovered this place years ago, I'd have a couple dozen more miles.
....still grasping on to the dying mule

I like the idea of a LW model for cost reasons, the steel is what I'm interested in. I must admit a Micarta Handled PM2 would be cool though, and might be worth the extra $.

Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?
You're probably right. But I'd definitely be in that 10%
Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?
Even if 90% do not get used, Spyderco will get the HT right for those that do use them. They know that there are steel guys out here buying their products. Especially with something like 15v, I believe there will be a higher number users and testers than normal.

Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?
Answering the second question first. It has become all about steels for me for some reason I guess. The main driver for me picking up a Junction was the PSF27 steel (but the knife is pretty doggone nice and quite unique among my knives). I can't imagine buying a knife for a different scale color or material. Looks affect me least of all, I am much more interested in how it works in my hand. So design is important, but in terms of function not looks (but it is always great when something looks good too, and that is part of really first rate design).sal wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 11:03 amHi Shawn,
I'm watching the thread. A couple of questions came to mind;
1. What one model woulr work for a sprint in 15V?
2. If we were to divide up the ELUS' into groups; interested in exotic teels, not interested in steels. interested in looks, materials, etc. Not interested, etc. I wonder how the numbers would drop?
sal
So, what model for a 15V? I am not in any way picky, so any Golden model. Maybe a backlock manix sprint. Maybe a Native 5. Maybe even a G10 Manix 2. But nobody would complain about a Para 2.
I wonder about these steels with high carbide content if they get too brittle for use in big blades, like even the Military, but this goes way beyond my pay grade.

For me, what drew me to Spyderco was the huge variety of steels available. Like Tom, scale color, material, or looks in general come distant third in my list of priorities when considering a new knife. Steel and design come first.
I'd love to see a run of 15V in one of the Golden models. Preferably, the Native 5. It's a great design, robust, and might be a bit more affordable for me than a full sized Military.

1. The Para 3, of course. :)sal wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 11:03 amHi Shawn,

2. Everyone agrees on the Para 3 so that drop would be excellent.
Can you find it and can it cut?

Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?
I'd be all over a PM2 with 15V or Maxamet. It seems like every other knife I own is S30V, a change of pace would be nice.

We'll, I've been working hard with more testing and I am very fortunate to have Larrin Thomas as a friend. He is also very obsessed with high performance.
Looks like there may be some extreme performance to be achieved with lower Austenizing and lower Tempers and cryos.
With hardnesses reaching +67 hrc tempered
Very excited to share more in knife form when the time comes.
Thanks for testing those Samples Larrin.

I'm a little slow.
Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?
I’d like to see it on a Manix 2 Lightweight or a Para 3 Lightweight.

Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?
Yea that's nuts, thought it was stuck at 64-65rc using the data sheet. Now the door has been opened.
Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?
Just googled gum tree burl, holy smokes lol.
Regarding the 15v, I would buy it instantly in a small knife, folder or fixed. Something like a Sprig in it would be amazing, but probably wouldn't sell much, unlike a folder. (Or I could just message Luong about something like that if I would really want a fixed blade in it, in a more competitive hardness and geometry than production). So like Shawn said, para 2/3/military <3 Ples gib!!!
