A copper spyderco

So I am a huge copper nut. I carry a copper pen and copper flashlight everyday. All I need to complete the trinity is a copper spydie!

IIRC sal said they tried it with the chapparal but had issues sourcing material, so maybe taiwan models are a no go.

I would love to see a copper lil native or cricket.
What do you guys think?

True. I feel like metal scales on those knives would really throw of the balance because you still have the steel liners. If spyderco could use copper the same way they did with the fluted ti military it would be perfect.

And yes, copper and 52100 would be so cool looking over time.

Copper is pretty, no doubt about it. But it’s so heavy! I love pretty knives but I also prefer lightweight knives. It’s a tough call.

I agree for the most part. I think it could really shine in some smaller knives, or something linerless like the native or ukpk.

...it was ultimately way too heavy for my liking(around 8oz I think). So I put the stock scales back on and sold the copper ones.

The copper Flytanium scales patina very, very quickly. If the patina is what you're after, that's great, but if you prefer the shiny look then you'll be spending a lot of time polishing them up again.

Also, they roughly double the weight of a standard PM2. It remains a very usable knife even with the changed balance, which I think is a testament to how good the base design is, but it definitely changes the carry experience.

I’d buy a copper bolstered spydie! It’d go with my SS (Kris), titanium (sage 4), and brass (Schempp Bowie).

I love that Schempp Bowie, the classic look of the copper bolster with the modern carbon fiber scales was a really nice touch. I'm also a big fan of the negative blade angle.

Wow! That is just utterly beautiful! I want those scales! But, half a pound! My goodness lol. It sure does look amazing though.

Anyone who is lucky enough to use my PM2 in S110V, instantly comments on how light weight it feels. The 2nd thing mentioned is how scary sharp it is. Then I see that look, they wanna steal it; so I’ve gotta take it away abruptly lol.

But, I wonder if carbon fiber is lighter than G10?

Never understood the attraction, Cu is (very) heavy, soft and poisonous.

Now, Cu anodized Titanium or Aluminum are very nice.

Same reason people love copper Zippos. They all take on their own unique look. I agree I wouldn't want it on a knife, though.

Copper is a very beautiful metal. It's unique in appearance, and I would argue that its density and luster add to its attractiveness.

Not sure about the poisonous part. Whatever properties copper may have I doubt having it as a knife handle would harm anyone.
