Identification on Spyderco knife

#1

Post by morcalavin »

Dear knife aficionados,
I just recently bought my first Spyderco from a garage sale. As I payed a whopping 110$ for the thing I would really like to know what I am dealing with.

Apparently it is pretty old, so maybe it was just too much.

That's definitely a Spyderco Military, but you probably knew as much from the writing on the blade. Definitely an older model, because of that jimping. Can't say much more than that; maybe someone else who knows more about the model will be able to help you out.

A lot of old Spydies do sell for a lot though, and I think the black blade Militaries like that one are kind of rare. I'll guess that you didn't get ripped off; you might even be able to sell it on eBay for more than you paid.

The ATS-34 Military was in production from 1996-1999, though the black coated blade version may have only lasted from 1996-1997.

$110 seems like a pretty good deal. Did it come with the original box? Also, could we get a picture of the clip? I'm curious if it uses the very first Military clip, or the improved version.

Coated serrations were state of the art at that time.

Cool to know, never saw it before, would have made me think it was a fake

I wonder why coated serrations?
Shinny serrations with the black look so mean.
