I'm thinking it's more like polygamy.

For years even when I was considered a devout Spyderhead I still had a couple of Benchmade folders that I had a deep fondness for. The Benchmade Boguszewski Spike models 640 & 650 were two EDC folders I carried for years along with whatever Spyder I had an obsession over at the that particular time period.

But with Benchmade going in completely different directions and Spyderco offering a much wider/better selection of blade steels the Spyderco folders then took sole possession of my pocket space. Ever since getting my M390 Military I've retired my Boguszewski Spike models. The M390 blade steel is so good that I've become completely spoiled with Spyderco's premium folders with super exotic blade steels.

Now in the kitchen/culinary section of the my life I am cheating to some degree. In the past 5 months I've made some really cool kitchen knife finds at some of my local thrift stores. I've found J.A. Henckels, Wustof, Queen Cutlery and Cutco units that I've truly grown rather fond of. But when it comes to hard use folders and fixed blades Sir Spydie has now monopolized my pockets, tackles boxes and backpacks.

Unless Benchmade ever does a Sprint Run of the older Boguszewski Spike models in a supersteel blade I doubt I'll be tempted.

There are lots of quality interesting knives out there, and many of them are not Spyderco knives. We do have more Spyderco knives in the house than any other brand though.

Most of my modern folders are Spyderco. I have and use others but I actually tend not to use my modern folders often. I almost always carry one but 90% of my cutting tasks get handled by a traditional slipjoint, (most often GEC but again not exclusively). But back to the moderns, generally if I’m not carrying a Spydie I’ve got one that I don’t really consider cheating, Smock SK23. We will have to see if the Spyderco version keeps the original out of pocket if they ever get around to releasing it!?

I am spoiled by the hole. It is a simple as that. Even the legendary Sebenza has a stud, and therefore sucks. Flippers change the game, and I have a couple of nice ZT models of that sort that I really can't complain about (except that they should go all the way and ditch the stud -- everyone should if it is a flipper). ZT makes some nice stuff with high standards of quality control -- they at least know how to put a pretty darn good factory edge on their knives. I won't mention a certain other well known maker that could use lessons in this regard.

Now if you get into fixed blade knives, Spyderco has a pretty restricted set of (albeit quite nice) offerings, so I do wander elsewhere here.

I’ve been cheating on my alox SAKs for years with Spyderco. They complement each other nicely and is my go to combo.

I did buy a few slipjoints recently: my first GEC and a Lionsteel Roundhead... Will have to see how deep that rabbit-hole is...

Spyderco isn't a cult? The Kool aid was just regular Kool aid?

A romantic date :)
Seriously,i think modern society can drive someone mad with too many choices. We have 1001 flavours of everything, and we are taught to try them all. It's liberating to go back to basics,so i simplified my decision tree:a knife is for cut things,a watch for tell the time,a car is for getting from a to b,etc. So it's Spyderco,G-Shock,Ford.
This doesn't mean i don't appreciate other brands,i even fantasize about them-i just don't buy them.

Most people would probably die after having there knife look like this! This chipping, and damage was after accidentally cutting a steel strap.

THIS IS AFTER I fixed it on the WICKED EDGE! It’s a glorious machine!

GRRRRR...those stupid steel straps on pallets! I destroyed a pristine edge on a 20CV Griptilian last week trying to rip through one of those thinking it was a typical vinyl strap! At least it wasn't a Spydie ;) Lesson learned...
