Spyderco Byte: Kapara

Post by Doc Dan »

I was reading with great interest the new Spyderco Byte about the Kapara. I like the idea behind the design. It looks really promising. I also think it may have a handle that is actually long enough for my hand.

I know what you mean. Very intriguing nice design. I am already thinking of it as a replacement for my PM 2. I’ll have to wait and see what the more knowledgeable reviewers have to say about it, especially after using it for a while.

Not generally a fan of compression locks, but the Kapara could be interesting design, depending on blade thickness and Spyderhole diameter.

I know what you mean about the compression lock, but it is far better than a liner lock or a frame lock. But, the overall design of the knife looks pretty good. I also like that the designer decided to design it around slicing fruit and other food, things that we actually do with our knives.

I love that knife. Preordered a long time ago.

I like the design. Not now, but perhaps sometime I will buy one.

I'm not jumping on it but I'll probably end up with it around tax return time. Price on it honestly isn't bad-- especially for full carbon fiber, not just peel ply over g10. Red backspacer is also nice. I'm digging the slim designs.

The Kapara is one of my most anticipated knives of the year. I had it pre-ordered but I decided to cancel it. I'll wait for a eBay sale and pick it up at a discount.

I have been watching this one since the mid-year catalog. I like compression locks fine and I suspect the thin grind, blade shape and handle ergonomics may better suit my needs than the Para Military 2 I have.

I plan to sell a few things and get one when they come in stock at SFO.

It looks like a very practical tool-type of cutting design, not burdened down with alot of extras.

As I said in a different topic, maybe not. I want to see some Kapara and Para Military 2 comparisons.

Ordered mine from SFO. I was kind enough to leave a few for others. :)

I wish it was a 3” blade, but it sure is beautiful in that first pic.

That knife is really nice. Thanks for the video. The knife looks like it would be comfortable in the hand.
