First Spyderco

#1

Post by Cymro »

Hey everyone,

New here and looking for advice on my first knife.
Looking for and uk legal knife for around £100

I like the look of the orange UKPK but from what I understand it’s no longer available.

I’m not keen on the black standard scales.

I’ve considered some custom orange g10 scales but can justify spending more on scales than on the knife.

Any thoughts or any idea welcome.

Any other spyderco knife out there for uk edc or is the ukpk the best option??

UKPK all the way! If the color of the scales is an issue, the S110V version has blue scales. A friend just sent me one of those as a gift, and it's awesome. I live in a place where I can carry any knife I want, and this one is going to be hogging pocket time in a major way.

All of the Slipit FRN handled knives benefit from an upgrade to G10/CF/Micarta scales IMO, maybe a purchase of the boring black handled version with a plan to upgrade to a custom scale in the future could work?

I have a Pingo that got orange G10 scales and an Urban upgraded to CF, both feel more solid in hand now and have better blade action.

I would suggest searching for out of production versions that already have the premium scale materials, but they will handily exceed your budget unless you get really lucky.

Hi Cymro,

Welcome to our forum.

We're got quite a few Brits that hang here. They're all daft :p but we enjoy them.

Cuscadi.

The S110V UKPK is excellent, but then so is the plain bd1n version, the n690 Urban & Squeak. Basically, you can’t go wrong.

Hi Cymric , Check out HH website based in the UK, good listings of uk legal knives from spyderco , and yes the ukpk is a very popular model be it in BD1n steel or CPM S110v, HH also stock the spyderpac knife storage cases 😁👌Still having fun out.

The older G10 model UKPK & Urbans were quite colourful. The Pingo & Roadie came in different colours too.
