discontinued list question

when a model shows up on the discontinued list, does that mean it’s gone forever (minus possible future sprints)? or could it mean that the model will undergo some sort of cqi?

i guess i’m really asking if we’ll possibly see a manix backlock 2 with improvements and in a salt variation.

It generally means the model didn't sell well enough to continue with additional production runs. So it's added to the discontinued list to make room for new models. If they were going to apply CQI it wouldn't be on the discontinued list in the first place. Future sprint runs are possible but I wouldn't expect them anytime soon.

Some of them are also just models that have run theor course. Like the titanium "stealth" chaparral and the stepped ti chaparral being disco'd. Those models have been out for at least four years. Anyone who wanted one had plenty of time to get one and they're planning different variations so room must be made.

Some are disco’ed for a new model like the techno. But that’s not usually the case.
And some models can gain a cult following and hopefully come back (tuff, dodo, jester). Shabaria is about to come back

The “when” question is unanswerable here. Sometimes we know within months but more often we don’t.

No plans that we know of yet. But many on the forum are asking. Sooner or later an exclusive or sprint will pop up. Sal and co listen.

The Manix 2 backlock is pretty niche in its appeal. I think fans of it should be glad it was made in the first place.

i liked the idea of it when i got to handle one in the store, but i thought it was too thick. still, if i had the money right now, i’d probably pick one up before they’re gone for good.
