Got mine as well. Happy to have Cru-wear again. Buying from KC meant that this exclusive was significantly cheaper than the light grey version purchased from a Canadian retailer last fall.

Anyone else hoping we get more Golden Spyders in this combo (Native 5, Yojimbo 2, Military, Manix 2)?

Cpm cruwear performance.... Wow. I am pleasantly surprised as well as intrigued as to the level of fine "razor" edge retention on this steel. For the ingredient levels in this steel to be lower than other steels, I am perplexed at how it can hold such a fine sharp edge for the length of time that it has. Not saying it is s90v edge retention amazing, just the super sharp edge stays a long time.
I was cutting very thick cardboard to make up some boxes yesterday, and to my suprise after several of these, it still had an aggressive shaving sharp edge. I did bring it to a hair whittling polished yet toothy edge before carrying it. I have a pretty good selection of higher carbide steels, but nothing below m4 since I did not see much use in having a tough steel in a folder. I see that I was wrong, at least in the case of Spyderco's cpm cruwear.. If I had one of the sharpness testing scales, I would run a test with this Para 3.

I'd be down for a Native 5. Would be a nice one.
Of course, native 5 lw in cru wear would be nice too.

Shows discontinued on the store page now. So there won't be anymore batches it seems.

I'll be getting mine tomorrow. Customs took their sweet time on this one.

Maybe they had some boxes needing opening. ;)

Just got mine today. And this Para 3 is super nice. Edge is really sticky sharp, and it has a nice free dropping action. A little lock stick but that will wear in.

But the most controversial thing on these are the smooth scales. But the moment i handled the knife i was in love with them. They feel really nice in the hand. I really don't need the peel-ply on a small knife like this. Grip on it is good enough that it won't slide out of your hand. The finish is matte, but i can clearly see the fiberglas weave in the G10 epoxy. Even at low light. Looks really nice to me. I saw some complaints about the PM2 when it dropped. I don't know if it was any different. But i really like the finish and don't see the need to polish it. Another benefit of the smooth scales is that you can easily clean them. Just a simple wipe and dust and dirt are gone. Peel-ply scales can really hold onto dirt. And with these scales the knife goes really easy in and out of the pocket and won't be eating up your jeans.
I have to say i'm a fan of smooth G10 now and wouldn't mind seeing it on more knives. It may even become my preferred G10.

Haha I'd never get it back then.

I couldn't agree more. I was leery but now I love the smoother finish for all the same reasons you mentioned in your post.

Appreciate the heads up. I waffled on these and kind of regretted not picking one up.

How so?

It's my favorite material wise. I really like the smooth G10. It's just not my favorite color.

Thanks for the heads up.

Tried to resist... Really regret selling my Cruwear Military a couple years ago. Could not fight it anymore.

Inbound :)

It's just my opinion, but of the 22 unique Para 3s in my collection it is my least favorite handle. I have a pair of black G-10 scales that I am planning to replace on one of them. The other is of course in the "Para 3 Museum of the Most Incredible Knife in World History" and must remain to inspire the generations that come after us. Besure to catch the documentary, "How The Para 3 Made All Other Knives Useless". Obviously it's a biased account, but there are a lot of great takeaways. :)

^ Lol. I knew there were a lot of Para 3 variants, but I didn't realize there were over 20 already. That's incredible. I was slow to warm up to this model, but when I finally tried one I did/do like it. It gets a lot of carry time.

For anyone thinking about picking one of these up on the second market, I bought this one purely for the steel but quickly found myself really liking the smooth G-10 handles. I’d like to see smooth options in colors although I’m not sure if bright colors would present visually as nice as the black. The feel is great.

I also picked one up for the steel, didn’t expect to like the smooth G10 as much as I do. It’s my most carried Para 3, and that Cruwear is outstanding.
