How easily does M4 patina?

#1

Post by TkoK83Spy »

How easily does M4 patina when cutting vegetables or salty meats? I'd wash clean immediately afterwards...but don't want a patina to form on my GB2. Does anybody have any experience with this scenario, or specifically this knife?

I cut some garlic with my m4 native. Didn't like the results. If you don't want patina, don't cut food with it.

From my uses, it takes a while. I have a few in M4 and they take a while to develop a nice steely tone like ZDP-189.

It is nothing like Super Blue or 52100 that will discolor in no time at all.

Not as easily as 1095 but it won't take long. Avoid food prep.
