Re: Is the CBBL dead???
It's just too small and chunky. The Sage, being a bit bigger, would make more sense for me.
I would be hyped about a cbbl sage or a large, slicy cbbl knife.

Re: Is the CBBL dead???
Not sure if thats the platform I would pick. I know I said between 2.5 and 3", but I'd really like something closer to 3", if not exactly 3". Maybe something without a 50/50 choil too.

Re: Is the CBBL dead???
The Manix/CBBL is one of my least favourite locks.. The Manixes i have had/handled has all been too stiff to open to be considered ok, much less fun.
As far as i am concerned they could replace it with AXIS or bolt lock any day.

there’s a break-in period. for the spring and your fingers. i always felt the axis was too loose and feels like a cheap toy, so i prefer the resistance of the cbbl.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Re: Is the CBBL dead???
The BBL and CBBL are my least favorite Spyderco locks. They're closed construction, and then when you eventually have to disassemble them to clean out the guts, they're more of a pain in the rear to reassemble than I want to deal with. I want more RIL's, but with thicker steel lock bar faces than the basically liner lock face screwed onto the Ti lock bar currently offered. That, or just make everything a compression lock with LC200N or H1 liners for corrosion resistance. But I have rather controversial and unpopular opinions here, so take this with the usual grain of salt.

Except that wouldn't be a sprint but rather a new bastard model..

Being my preferred lock and having wanted a federal facility legal CBBL for a long time, I think it'd be great!

Re: Is the CBBL dead???
For me CBBL has a massive advantage over compression and frame locks in that they keep folders closed better than the detent based locks do for me. Same thing I love about the backlock.ugaarguy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 01, 2018 1:08 amThe BBL and CBBL are my least favorite Spyderco locks. I also like that they're completely ambidextrous, but if I need to I can operate frame locks lefty.
Re: Is the CBBL dead???
I think there's a practical limit to how small a knife can be with this lock, otherwise it's probably tricky to unlock. The Bolt Action Lock on the other hand can be operated with just your thumb..

Re: Is the CBBL dead???
No Viv you have freak hands and freak thumbs. Us mere mortals need two fingers to operate this lock
I can but it takes significantly more effort than a Bolt Action Lock does.

Were they brand new?Larry_Mott wrote: ↑Mon Oct 01, 2018 12:51 amThe Manix/CBBL is one of my least favourite locks.. The Manixes i have had/handled has all been too stiff to open to be considered ok, much less fun.
Most of my Manii have been pretty stiff when new, and have broken in nicely. The only one that was super smooth (and fun) to play with when brand new was my old s30v HG PE.
I've found that it takes about a week (and some nano oil) of use, or about an hour of fidgeting, to get them broken in and smooth.
Re: Is the CBBL dead???
an easier way to break it is to leave it half open so the spring is compressed. it’s less fun though, so just do that after your hands are tired.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Re: Is the CBBL dead???
I like the CBBL plenty, but I see the appeal in less parts, and the ceramic ball bearing lock does work great as well.
