It has a fantastic slicey blade, it's surprisingly ergonomic and it's got a completely different design language than what we're used to.

The chokwe is an excellent knife. I always thought about it as a competitor to the sebenza at half the price.

The CHOKWE always reminded me a great deal of one of my all time favorite Spyders ever. I'm speaking of the JD SMITH model. The overall blade geometry of CHOKWE seems so similar to the JD SMITH model you think they were cousins. I would love a CHOKWE model in one of the Supersteels.

Yes indeed, though the upswept tip of the Smith changes the (my) angle of approach for fine cuts. The blae shape of the Chokwe reminds me also of the Opus.

Here's a comparison pic from a few years ago. In the hand, the Chokwe feels similar to the JD Smith reissue with G10 scales. The Smith in Micarta is a whole nutha critter--feels refined, more of a 'gentleman's' knife. The Chokwe is more utilitarian, and is a slicer par excellence. One of mine is hard-used and tip-worn, still cuts like a champ. Despite the absence of indexing contours, it falls into place just right in my hand.

A re-issue or Li'l Chokwe would be welcome.

Congrats on your new Chokwe, daviddang.

That JD Smith has the same blade as the Dyad! I'm going to have to get one.

Was nice. Mine needed way too much effort to unlock the knife, though.

Many good qualities, however.

Yes to this!!

I am looking forward to the Lil Chokwe, but I would love to see the original Chokwe back in a great steel - Cruwear, maybe M4, one of the tough-but-excellent edge-holding steels to complement the great design! BHQ - you guys up for another exclusive? KW, anyone :)

We've got the small Chockwe in-the-works. I carried a prototype for quite a while and found it to be unusually ergonomic considering it's just a "stick" handle. It shows that often refinement can take a different path and stiil get there.

That is fantastic news!

Yea - the small Chokwe knife I had made for me was a GREAT little EDC knife... although the Chokwe villagers thought it was too small to be useful, and the blacksmith didn't even want to make it due to it being smaller than what he liked. He ended up making it a little bigger than we agreed on.

The XL one was especially awesome. :) If you get bored, that could be a fun prototype.

Everyone who handled my Chokwe was very surprised at how ergonomic it was. It's with my Dad now. Looking forward to the smaller version. Hopefully we'll see pictures sometime!

I abhor lil anything. I'm offended that smaller is better. Quite the contrary.
I have a ultra lite mod I would love to see production. The Ti half makes it very receptive to a liner less scale. The liner is so heavy everytime I pick up my Chokwe box I open it thinking a knife is in it.
I bought my modded Chokwe with zero info. It's not complicated though. You can easily see the liner less construction, due to its jade scale. I would be happy to send it into Sal and team for review.

That is gorgeous! Looks like I'm going to have to start twisting another arm ;)

I've wanted to try the Chokwe, I love the blade shape.
