Dragonfly HB Salt Found!-H1 is Amazing

#1

Post by mrtodd777 »

Last Thanksgiving I was visiting my parents in the Texas Hill Country when my DF2 fell out of my pants at some point. I originally thought that one of the goats we were feeding and taking care of must have eaten it. Well, turns out my Dad was walking along our creek in the backyard this past weekend and in about a foot of water he saw something yellow!

This thing had been completely submerged for 10 months. The scale side facing the sun is definitely sun bleached a bit, but the blade looks like the knife is brand new. H1 is truly some awesome stuff.

Always a good feeling finding something you lost hope on! I just sent mine back to Spyderco to have it sharpened. I miss it :(

Happy to hear that your hawkbill came back. Curious to know if you replaced it or had other Dragonflys available while it was missing?
I got mine earlier this year to take sailing and I am so impressed with it.

I never replaced this exact model after it fell out of my pocket, but I did have a ZDP Dragonfly in my collection, and quickly picked up a Lightweight Chap to cover my bases.

I think so too. That’s why I haven’t washed it yet. I also like the sun bleached side.

Hah, these things must have a mind of their own. I had one jump out of my pocket at Magic Mountain in Vermont this past winter, who knows where after a 3 foot dump. I hope some lucky patroller found it before the sun got to it, cuz I love that yellow handle! I accidentally left my Pacific outside in my boat for a week and it really aged the handle fast.

Glad yours made its way back to you!

i misplaced my df2 salt for a couple months. for being so brightly colored, they sure can disappear easily. super great knife though. i missed mine a lot while it was missing and i’m happy to have it back.

glad you got yours back too. that’s a great story. :)

I really like the look of the bleached side. Now, I just need to buy one, take the scales off, and leave it outside for a year.

Don't tell Sal, but I think a run in white FRN would be great.
