I’m surprised this knife has not been created yet, even in different steel if Maxamet is not an option right now.

Sooo many people Frankinknife this combo on their own... it would be nice to have a clean, factory version.

To me, DLC treatment of Maxamet is sacrilegious! :D The way they work to stonewash and smooth the edges of those blades is bordering on magic/alchemy!!

Sure, you had me at "Maxamet" ... although it's not looking likely in the immediate future.

I'd be happy with another run of the M390 family, though. M390, 204P, 20CV, whichever.

Hijack...DLC Maxamet yes, PM2 No, Carbon Fiber No. I would take DLC Maxamet in a Millie, Para 3, Native LW, and Native. Same grey G10.

The stonewash does look fantastic. But I love me some DLC.

PM2 maxamet yes, dlc and cf no.
I prefer to see the metal and the patina non stainless develops. Maxamet has a stonewash finish which looks really nice. I wish we would see stonewashed blades in more sprint runs of other steels. No CF due to price and i find black really boring. I prefer some nice (bright) color G10.

Steels i'd like to see; REX 121 (though unlikely, just like maxamet), K390, Nitrogen steel or some Cruwear thats not with the ugly smooth g10 from Knifecenter.

I think a PM2/3/military Salt in LC200N would be really nice and feasible. I think those models with the bright yellow G10 from the salt series would fly off the shelves.

I was curious what something like this could cost if actually made, so I crunched some numbers.

Standard PM2 $210
KW CF M4 PM2 vs BHQ M4 +$102
DLC vs non-DLC PM2 +20
Maxamet vs S30V PM2 +$90
= $422

This was just a quick rough estimate, but the upgrades would likely double (or more) the cost over that of a standard PM2.

A $420 PM2 is a hard pill to swallow. I think this sentiment would apply to most people, once they realized the probable price.

Someone would surely buy it, though, given the frenzy around REC 204P Para 3s' secondary market prices recently.

I figure this combo would come out to at least $250 MAP, maybe $275. To be honest I am not interested in that. I dislike coated blades, I dislike CF and I don't want to pay a premium for them. They are having a hard enough time even making Maxamet Para2s. It seems like asking for a sprint is asking for a lot at this point.

I would buy a plain old Maxamet Para2 in a heartbeat. I am still a little bummed that we all thought they were gonna be regular production and now their future is uncertain. I would have jumped on one in the first place had I known. I just want a Maxamet Military. :D

Yeah, sorry, I forgot to state what that $422 would equate to in MAP. Like Darby said, it could be around $275 at the regular dealers.

I voted no. As stated Maxamet looks sooo good as Spyderco presented it the first time. I also like contrast in my knives. Im not into black on black on black. I will add how ever, is there a reason all the steel parts (liners) can not be DLC. I have a few colour + DLC PM2s and the full black out of steel parts would be cool

I voted no. But a deep crimson red handle, or red/black carbon fiber, with black hardware and black dlc coated maxamet blade? I could get down with that. Like seriously get down with that.

$230 +/- would be enough to get me to pull the trigger on that

After getting the 52100 pm2 with the cf scales I remember why I don’t love the cf. Go with micarta! Frankly I prefer a little more weight. I also dislike coated blades!
