i don’t think it’s ethical to make a combat knife with a non-stainless steel. i’m not trying to give my attacker tetanus. haha
seriously though, i’ve been sleeping on the yojimbo. with all the talk, i watched janich’s video explaining the design and now i want one badly. like for real.

I keep seeing people say that m4 that’s easily but that has been the exact opposite of my experience with it.
In my experience uncoated CPM M4 will get black spots on it even though its coated in oil. I do live in humid Hawaii, and my hands sweat a lot. Even my CPM Cruwear gets spotty too; my environment is corrosive. Sold all my CPM M4 knives unfortunately.
HAP40 seems to do just fine for me, though all my HAP40 is clad with the SUS410

have you tried frog lube? i use that on my d2 blades and there is some darkening of the blades, but no problems. i’m also in hawaii.

That’s really interesting and seems to be a common thing around here regarding non stainless steel blades. Geography, climate and even an individuals sweat can and does make a huge difference on a knifes ability to resist corrosion. Technically I live in a temperate rainforest but I would have to go out of my way to make M4 show any kind of patina or staining. I think my sweat also must be the sort that has little to no effect on my blades.
If I had the sort of issues a lot of people around here have with tool steels I probably wouldn’t like it much either.

I do use Frog Lube and it works great. Just switched to it recently though after using Rustys Rags for a while

All of my M4 blades are pristine like the day I got them, and I don't do anything special to them.
I think this may be one of the advantages of living in the desert here.
This knife has me thinking, but I haven't made the plunge yet. I am still stewing on it.
I like M4 a lot. This knife is unique. I like the natural ("jade") G10 just fine, though it shows
dirt and food stains like a white tablecloth. How is it on bloodstains?

I miss Arizona... I had no idea what corrosion resistance was.

Anyone receive their shipping info yet? I ordered the knife 3 minutes after it was available and still no shipping notification. I did just receive an email however telling me (a day later) that the m4 yojimbo is in stock. That’s a pretty lousy in stock notification system.

It wont get mailed out until Thursday or friday most likely. Last two orders I've made at bladeHQ took 48 hours to get the shipping notice, and another 24 hours until tracking was active.

I actually had to cancel first order and reorder with UTD cc info.
