Finally bought a Yojimbo!

#1

Post by benben »

Went to my LGS in neighboring Charlotte this morning to look for a light for a HK P30, never made it past the knife cases! They’ve went from a pretty much nonexistent knife dealer to having quite the inventory of nice knives from basically all the major manufacturers.

Yojimbo 2 was sitting front and center in the Spyderco case, guy asked if he could show me anything......why yes you can! He handed it to me and it never left my hand, I was still playing with it while I was paying the man. The Yojimbo has been on my “got to buy list” for several years now, and yes I keep an ever evolving, always changing list in a drawer at work. The Yojimbo for the last two years has always been on the VERY top but then last minute gets kicked aside for something else, but it still sits on top with me promising it’s next!

This is a wicked knife that I put in the same category as my Shun Santoku that my wife bought me for Christmas, you better pay attention when using!! Sitting in my car in the parking lot looking it over more I realized this is one of those blades that don’t play, if that edge gets to you, you bleed! I’m very impressed and should have bought one a long time ago, plus the guy sold it to me for $1.00 over MAP pricing which made the trip over there even sweeter! I’ll try and post a pic tomorrow.

Big Congratz on the new Yo2.
But, if I may ask, what exactly did $1 over MAP come to?

Doesn’t it feel good when you finally get that one you knew you should have long ago? Happy for you!

Yes sir it does, I’ve got some nice ones I think I’m going to move, and then really start working some more on that list I keep at work! I’m super impressed with this Yojimbo!

ImageCongrats.
Thought it odd looking prior to buying but Yo2 ergonomics are amongst the best.
A great knife.

Happy to help. You may want to message me though in the future. I'm just seeing this today - unfortunately, time doesn't allow for us to read every post/thread. ;) Welcome to general discussion and congrats on the new Yojimbo 2!

I'm the same way with the Yo2. I've wanted it forever, but it always seems to get bumped down.

An S110V version would change that. ;)

Regardless of steel, if you hold one, you’ll buy it? I really didn’t want another knife in S30V but I’m good at getting them screaming sharp.

Even brand new and not broken in the action is slick as glass, and releasing the compression lock, the blade falls closed at the perfect speed. Flicking open with my middle finger is definitely the best way for me to open it, when the salesman handed it to me at the gun store, I middle fingered it :D and it opened like a rocket! He looked at me, then the knife like how in the heck did you do that......he looked at the knife like “I know that’s not an automatic, is it??”

But I’m with you, I’d love one in S110V also.

Same. I keep bumping the Yo2 down on the "next knife" list, but I think it is definitely the most likely next purchase at this point. Just too good to keep passing up.
